U. S. News says RL is #6

Not bad at all. No complaints here. It's obvious that everywhere you look, the 5 series is the king, and that's reflected in that I see them everywhere. Not so the elusive RL.

That ranking pretty much captures my personal view as well. Although I think the RL is a better car than a few higher ranked entries. I would assume branding played into that determination and I can easily see why the RL placed where it did.

I see RLs all the time, but then I work 1/2 mile from a Dealer.
I also work 1 mile from the BMW dealer, so I also see lots of those, but usually on a flatbed.

The 528xi is an under powered joke. Just because they cost as much (or more) than an RL doesn't make them competitors.
There are 5 versions of the 5 series sedan (not counting the M5), with 3 different engine options. The majority of the 5 series sold are the rear drive 528 (or in the past 525).
Any one who buys a 528 over an RL is buying the BMW rondelle to make up for other deficiencies in their life or to impress the neighbors.

+2 LOL!
If you're gonna buy a 5-series, at LEAST buy the 535. That's what I'd do....

I'd say not bad for a company (Acura) that many detractors are writing off for dead.
TSX #2, TL #3, RL #6, MDX #3, RSX #1
Overall Honda cleaned house:
Honda pilot, odyssey, civic, CRV, and accord all #1 in their respective categories.

Im sure that once the reliability score for the 5 series gets factored in, the rating will drop...
Then again, who buys a new BMW anymore? With their great lease rates and maintenance plan, makes more sense to lease one.

We may complain about what acura is doing along with honda and how some things are lacking, but if you look in the categories in which honda has vehicles, it was in the top 10...

Saw that...I was puzzled by the weak 7.3 for Exterior (the RL is waaaay better looking than the ubiquitous Bangle-butt Beemer) and 7.3 for Reliability (were they thinking of the '05 RL???). Not to mention the lowish 9.2 for Safety when we are talking about 5-star crash test results all the way around plus SH-AWD. If those numbers were corrected to reflect the truth, current RLs would be #1. But then we'd have to pay more...

on the surface, the rating seems good and appropriate for the RL.....that being said....I take issue on several points...in light of the new survey released on serviceablility. The Acura should be near the highest of the group especially with the CR rating that was released a few days later.
Next point, exterior the RL has a sleek extradordinary body, who thinks the competators look any better. The BMW is unique and equally exciting...The MB is truely CLASSIC....The M35/45 looks plain and ordinary (like its actually ugly to me)
I do agree with a less than perfect rating of the RL safety. While the RL has lots of body rigidity, it lacks rear side air bags and knee bolsters. Add those two items and tell me why it shouldn't get a perfect 10.
The RL is a one of the biggest marketing disasters ever...you've have to go back to the Edsel to find a bigger disaster

I'm okay with our car being #6. It's a great car and I'm sure that all of us owners feel the same way.
I don't think we have the best looking car- I do love the BMWs, but to each his own. I wouldn't want to have to deal with all the maintenance issues the BMWs have.
