Trunk won't auto open

Hi All,

I tried searching for this, but wasn't able to find anything. I was reading yesterday on one of the tips that I'm supposed to just walk up to the trunk with key in pocket and the trunk should automatically open if I hit the handle on the trunk... well its not doing that, I have to use the remote to pop the trunk.

Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

It opens with the button on the remote just fine, just not by touching it like I do the door handle.

Thx,

-Chad

Shouldn't you be talking to the dealer about a warranty repair?

There is a small lever under the chrome bar
Just pull it towards you (with key fob in pocket)
If that's no good its dealer time
Good luck

Right - you actually have to pull the little trunk lever up, then the car will recognize the fob and the trunk will pop open. The inside of the door handles just need to be touched to unlock - with the trunk you need to pull the lever up before it "pops" open.

If you have an '06-07 with the dealer installed rearview camera, you may not have a lever -- instead, you'll have a little rubber nipple under the chrome strip, about 4" to the right of the camera, that you'll need to depress.

also, you may need to check the security lockout located in the glove box.

Actually don't believe you even need the FOB to open the trunk with the little trunk lever if the car is already unlocked.

I've always wondered about that, but never tested. Can anyone open your trunk if the car is unlocked?

Under normal situations, I believe anyone can open the trunk if the doors are unlocked.

To disable the trunk lever, all you have to do is to turn off the trunk main switch in the glove box. This also disables the trunk release on the drivers door and the remote.

I thought about that as well - but the manual says the button on the fob is locked out as well when the trunk security button in the glove box is in the "OFF" position.

Thanks guys, i'll try the lockout suggestion.

I was pulling on the handle to open the trunk so that's definitely not it.

If that doesn't work then It will be dealer time.

it's an 05 by the way so I won't have to worry about the camera.

Yeah, its not the switch because with the switch in the off position I was unable to open the trunk with the fob. Looks like a trip to the dealer is the solution.

mine works. I have an 07.. as long as you walk up to the car and nothing is obstructing the fob, like a cell phone or some other electronics, you can simply unlatch the trunk, and at the same time you grab the hande it will beep as it unlocks...
