I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the performance of the automatic tranny. When accellerating all is fine but when driving at steady, medium speeds (say 50 Mi/h) I find that it shifts up when it has no business to do so and that as a result the car speeds up a little. With the electronic throttle there's really no excuse for that type of behavior. The ECU knows the shift is about to happen and should manipulate the engine to make the shift smooth. In the S4 it sure works that way. It seems to have a particular problem when going down a slight incline.

I also think the lack of 4-3-2 settings is a bit cheap. I wouldn't mind helping the tranny a little by limiting its range but I don't want to put it in '3' unless I'm going less than 30 Mi/h or so.

I have had the tranny computer update done.
