Smile Took delivery today..woo-HOO! Now for upgrades...

Gents I picked up my RL today so I'm officially part of the gang. Pics are still up on the dealers site:

http://www.richardsmotorcars.com/det...d-6303315.html

Thanks for all the pointers on the interior wood upgrades...those will be the first projects. Currently hitting up eBay for the knob & wheel, and will order the 00 cupholder and shifter bezel from the dealer who posted the part #s here. Special thanks to SoCal28 for posting the install pics of the project.

Funny I know there are differing opinons on the amount of woodgrain, but I as soon as I explained the project to my wife (who is not a "car person" at all) she agreed and said "yea, it's a little 'plasticy', kinda like my old Nissan". (referring to her 2000 snore of a base model Altima) That settled it for me...the upgrade is on!

I'm really surprised that the woodgrain that was added to the 09 was not added in the 2nd gen. But, could be classic product planning. Not so much "planned obselecence" but more a strategy of intentionally "holiding back" certain additions for the sole reason of augmenting the next product release with enough to show a material improvement.

But I digress. Thanks to all of you for your pointers and welcoming me to the group. This site is a great resource. My other car is an SL500 and the enthusiast site there isn't nearly as prolific or thorough as the one here.

$28,570. Not chump change for sure but with the low mileage, remainder of factory warranty, etc. I felt it was a good deal. Car is in excellent shape, plus it was the exact color combo/options etc. that I wanted--which isn't usually what you are able to find when buying preowned. It was an off-lease car from Miami, so no salt either.

Wish I could say the same for its future here in snowy Boston...

Awesome! Considering the starting price of the car, I think you did well. The thing some people overlook is that sometimes the best deal is finding what you want! Enjoy the car like most of us have.

I have the same interior on my 07 lakeshore metalic (light silver). I have 143,000 trouble free and enjoyable miles on mine. Wish that I had got the wood steering wheel along time ago. I did get the wood shift knob. Very excited for you and hope that you will enjoy as much as I have enjoyed mine. That darker blue will really shine with some coats of Zaino. Very wise purchase!!

Congrats! I hope you have been enjoying your RL! Just keep an eye on your factory warranty; you have until October of this year or up to 50,000 miles. My guess is you'll hit the October limit before the mileage.
