Thanks delacura. I guess anybody considering tinting may have to rethink their choice and go for the upmarket heat reflective coatings.

I am convinced my car doesnt get as hot as one without tint or tint that is lighter.

I find the car is not that hot in the summer went out in the sun (not as hot as cars with lighter tint in the past have been or other cars with black interiors) but in the winter the car is not cold either after sitting out...I rarely used my climate cotnrol in the winter because the car wasnt too cold and warmed up quick.

I dunno...all I know is I hate driving without tint

you RL guys should keep in mind that metallic tint affects the navigation system in your car... so if you are going to buy tint make SURE it is not metallic

Either way, I got the tints for cosmetic reasons.

Doesn't the nav use the shark fin external antenna? I'm currently exploring tint options and wonder if anyone has experienced this problem. I do understand that AM reception will suffer (no concern), but I would be worried about the nav if this is indeed the case.

Fin is for OnStar

I recall reading some article last year on this issue but I can't seem to find it right now...as I recall, the rooftop fin antenna is for OnStar, the FM antenna is the wiring inside the rear window glass (as customary in most cars), and the XM-Nav antenna is located in the brake light assembly at the top of the rear window.

Fin has onstar and XM. The nav is in the rear deck shelf where the speakers are and the sunshade that goes up and down.

Man, this stinkz ... The only local window tint shop uses SolarGard HP film (which is metallic). Has anyone used this product and can give us an evaluation relative to the NAV system?
