Throttle Controller Thoughts/Feelings
Good Afternoon,
I recently purchased a 2011 Acura RL and am considering installing a throttle controller for a more economical pedal profile. Anyone have any experience using a throttle controller to help save fuel/or to increase throttle response?
Thanks in advance for your input.

I don't think RL is a car you buy to save on gas... 18-19-20mpg is that territory RL comes with... but that is just my opinion

As an owner of a 2011 RL I can vouch for looking at ways to change how the car moves off the line. I too looked at the "Pedal Commander" as an option to change the drive characteristics. That was almost 3 years ago...
A couple of tips to help get a better feel under foot.
My current Trip B mileage (which I never reset) converted for the MPG crowd is 21.4 mpg (10.9 l/100lm). In the summer time with good gas and lots of freeway cruising it can get as high as 27.6 mpg (8.5 l/100km)
A couple of tips to help get a better feel under foot.
- Footwear matters! The feel of the car under my work boots vs a nice light slip-on is night and day. Over time you will get used to how it feels.
- Give the car about 3 minutes of warmup time before driving or touching the gas. 5 minutes if you have the time! LOL
- Always use premium 91 or higher fuel - Ethanol Free is preferred to running a 93 or 94 octane. My Canadian gas sucks balls compared to what I get in Upstate New York. Car runs so much better on Sunoco! Find a gas station with decent gas and stick to fueling up there if possible. See if that helps some.
