For those who have gotten your RL for 42k-45k...
Can you please scan your contract and post it? My friend thinks everyone is a liar online when i tell them people have gotten their RL for $43k.
I just want to shut him up since hes shopping for one now and all he can get the prices down to is $49k.

I don't have any experience with the '06s, but last year there were RLs available as low as $39,988. I purchased mine for $40,300 from South Coast Acura last October. (The deal I pasted below was from Downey Acura in So Cal)
This pricing seemed to be primarily in the California market. Believe elsewhere about the best you could do was around $42K. I know that's what it was in the Denver area at that time.
These are a couple of the threads which discussed pricing back then:
Brand New RL $39.8K ( Multi-page thread 1 2 3 )
Better to Lease remaining '05 or wait till '06

Your Internet Purchase Price for the New Acura RL

Stop that, you're making me tempted to step up to the RL again. And I just spent on mods for my TL......

I got my 2005 RL at Ed Voyles for $42,200 in November - so it was one of the last 2005 MY cars they had. They made me feel like I was getting a steal, but reality is that others were able to go even lower ($39,800) in other cities.

40,800 last September.
I'm not going to put up my contract, but will say I used a quote from Downey Acura that was around 39,500 to pressure my local dealer here in the bay area.

Wow. The RL is really becoming a steal.
Looks like there will be a lower "base" RL soon:

includes back up camera, mud guards, wheel locks
if you subtract about $1000 for options, the quote you're getting is better than what I paid. Good luck!

Yesterday my brother-in-law leased an RL (purchase price was $42,400) here in SoCal (includes wood steering wheel & tranny). Take into account the $3,000 cash back from Acura to dealers and it's too sweet to pass up. His color of choice was Lakeshore but the wood wheel & knob in a black RL won out. He counted 9 RLs on the lot. The one he leased was built in January.
FWIW, on his behalf I e-mailed four dealers. Three responded with quotes of $42,000, $42,200 (got the car from this dealer) and $43,900. The fourth dealer refused to offer a quote unless he/she knew the color of choice and whether it would be a purchase or lease.

Incentive for lease only?
So is this 3k May incentive only for leases? That's what my dealership is telling me.
I'm more interested in buying, not leasing. So what prices are people seeing for non-lease deals?

I thought there was when I leased my 2004 Acura TL, but came to learn that the only real advantage is that manufacturers and dealers agree that leasing keeps customers coming back and creates a revenue stream (initial lease then pre-owned cars in great condition).
But purely from a pricing perspective, you have to agree on purchase price regardless of whether you buy or lease it. So the $3000 should apply either way.

With the intention of leasing a vehicle, you first negotiate the selling price. Never tell the dealer your intentions (buying or leasing) until you have agreed on the selling price. With the $3,000 incentive from the manufacturer to the dealer, the money is there no matter how the dealer sells the car. A leased car is considered a sale to a dealer.

Best I could do with wood wheel, knob & flaps was $46,700, (give or take $200) from 3 different dealers!
I was shooting for 44.5k, being that folks on this board were getting them for 43- 44k at that time. I knew the CA 40k price was unreasonable on the East, but I was frustrated I was not able to break 46k!
I gave up & bought "the other" AWD Japanese alternative!

What you say sounds good.....but again, trying to get the dealer to pass on that 3k rebate from manufacturer to dealer was just not happening in the Metro NY area back in Oct of 05!
I had 2 dealers admit to me about the kickback, only after I pried them about it.
They both would not pass on any of it on a lease, even though they knew that is what I was looking for!
I wanted to buy originally.......but the 3k lease kickback to dealer should have given me the "resale dive" edge I needed to feel comfortable with RL ownership.
No good, they were not sharing any part of that 3k lease Kickback pie to the consumer!

Here in L.A. some dealers would part with the majority of the $3K and others would only offer a few crumbs. There are 7 Acura dealerships within a 30 minute drive which may be why some dealers would part with the $3K. I also know there was excessive inventory.
Try again during the last two days of this month. You might get better cooperation. Locally, getting an RL for $42,000 (Sierra in Alhambra, Acura 101 West) is very do-able.
On a side note, there should be a sticky (if one doesn't exist) on how to negotiate the selling price of a car. or at the very least, one's behavior once you sit down and get down to numbers.
What I have found works best is putting my offer in writing on a piece of paper, sign the paper and mark above the offer 'firm'. If the salesperson comes back haggling, I rise, extend my hand in gratitude for his time, give him my business card and leave. Only once did a saleperson allow me to leave the dealership. Of course, you have to know going in that the offer you extend is fair for both parties.

Was offered $42k and change by my dealer.
Considering the good resale value of my '04 TL, even with 47k miles, the TL would essentially act as a significant down payment whether I sold it privately or just traded it.
Must.....keep.....hand.....away.....from.....phone ......urrrrrrrrrg......this is the same thing that happened last fall when I was offered a good deal on the M35x. I almost traded up. This deal, especially if I wait until the end of the month, and can negotiate an even lower price, is going to be much harder to resist.
