Is there a way to shut off the annoying Beep sound when leaving car while on

Does anyone know how to turn off that stupid alarming beep sound when you leave the car running and leave the car. I know I could leave the door open, but sometimes that just doesn't happen, lol.

I think I hear it coming from the rear of the car. I'm about to find the damn mechanism and tear out of the car. I'm not 80 years old, so I know I left the car running.

It drives me nuts. I pick my kids up from daycare at their sitters house and want to leave it running to keep it cool inside.

Anyway I can shut it off?

Thanks!

It is the keyfob proximity alarm. It is not to warn you the engine is running. It is to warn you the fob is not in proximity to the car. It is the same alarm that sounds when you try to close the trunk with the fob in the trunk (causing the trunklid to pop open).

I am unsure where the 'beeper' is located. However, should you leave the car running and take the fob with you and return without the fob, the car will operate. You can drive away and once you shut it off, you will not be able to restart it since you will not have the fob with you. That is the purpose of the proximity alarm.

I honestly don't care what it's exact purpose is. I just want to get rid of it. It is by far the most useless thing on the car and may only be needed for people that are clueless. I just don't see the purpose. I leave my key fob in my pocket. I'm pretty sure I don't need the car to "alarm" me that the key is not in proximity. What was Acura thinking!?

Either way, pretty soon I'll find that speaker that is making the sound and rip it apart...go "Office Space" on it

Think about this. Your wife runs an errand before you take her to the airport. As you leave the house she says "I've got your keys honey."

You drop her off and drive off to the office. It isn't until that night when you try to leave that you realize that your keys are in her purse on the other side of the country.

^^^This is an incredibly good point right here. Although there is a massive orange light in the MID that tells you the key fob isn't in the car.

That scenario would never happen.

Your 02 Si used to beep at you if you opened the door with the key in the ignition, well the RL is a modern day version of the same warning but it integrates with the anti-theft system too.
Warnings on cars should be user selectable, if I open the door I don't need a warning, if I haven't had time to put my seatbelt on yet I still don't need a warning but the fob proximity is not a bad warning because it CAN immobilize the car.

lol...seriously...I'm getting bashed because I don't like something...I'd hate to around any of you. Seems like I can't have an opinion.

I just simply wanted to know if anyone had tried it before. I don't like it, I don't want, I'll take care of it myself.

Not really sure why you guys are making such a big deal out of my post.

Also, oo7spy, I'm not heated about it...I just can't stand it. I think you read into posts too much.

Do you think I'm seriously going to yank it out and smash it apart??? It's just a joke man. Do you think someone that jokes around like this...would be that serious???

I have an 07 RL, and I am fairly certain that if you take the keyfob out of the car while its running, you won't be able to shift it out of Park until the fob returns to the cabin of the car.

I might just go try this out, but I am fairly certain that you cannot put the 2G RL into any other gear if its in park and the fob isnt in the cabin somewhere.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I was thinking of that too, but didn't narrow it down to just a fuse. I'm hoping to disable this by cutting a wire...but at the same time not messing up any other beep notice shut as locking the car, panic alarm (not like I'd use the panic alarm, but you never know), nor disabling anything else.

yeah, it won't shift out of park. I've tried it. I had the car running, shift it to park, gave the keys to my wife to run into the house. I tried to shift it out of park and it wouldn't happen.

Which is basically my point...you can't do crap without the key fob...so why have the alarm???? Not too mention, if you throw the key in the trunk and close it, it pops back open.

Seriously, the alarm is useless.

For those of us with only 1 fob and wife drops you off at airport for biz trip, the alarm is very useful!

You can definitely shift out of park and drive the car without the fob. I have dealt with the "remote key not detected" warning many many times, and it has never kept me from driving away.

I think it's hilarious that any contradicting opinion or is labeled flaming. Word of warning: don't ever go to Ramblings. They will eat your lunch and not care if you get hungry.

Part # 11 on the schematic is the buzzer (beeper).

It is located behind the rear bumper fascia.

okay, you can take it out of park, but two of us can't...we tried...maybe your key was closer than you thought????

As for your warning...lol...please...I really don't respect you...you have no clue about cars, you probably don't know how to change your own oil. You get on these posts and complain and whine all day...you're a waste of space. Do yourself a favor and find something else to do with your time rather than flame ever post you can...because that's all I see you do. You don't contribute AT ALL!
