Sunroof Rattle

I noticed recently that my sunroof assembly rattles while driving over uneven road surfaces. It is very annoying! Is anybody experience the same on 06 RLs?

Do a search on this site using google to find the threads on this topic as I believe the built in search is still not functional.

IIRC, the rattle was from the pop up air deflector when the sunroof was open, driven at highway speeds. I cannot say I have this problem, but I also don't drive at speed with the sunroof open because it is too noisy.

I do not recall if there was a resolution.

It rattles while sunroof is in closed position. The noise is going away when it's open.

i think this might be a problem that most Honda/Acuras have, you may just need to get the seals relubed. try that and see if it works. the dealerships should do it for free.

I had the same problem. The dealer, I think, did lube it last week and it seems much better.
It was odd because it went from no rattle to an annoying one in the course of a day.

I made an appointment with the dealer. I hope they be able to solve it. It is very annoying screeching noise.

No offense, but a screech is very different from a rattle!

I agree. The moonroof squeaking is a common issue resolved by lubing. A "screech" seems like metal on metal to me?

I have noticed the squeaking also, and initially thought it was a rattle. (I am 'rattle retentive' after owning the TL prior). It is not noticeable when the sunshade is closed.

It is not a rattle, but simply the weatherstrip that surronds the glass panel and the friction against themetal roof surround. I have used a vinyl protectorants to reduce the squeak, but it eventually returns.

Whatever you use be sure it will not stain or etch the paint of the metal roof surround. Or, as I have learned to do, simply ask my tech to lubricate the roof at each service visit. He now has it on the work order before I rattle off my requests.

Thanks, TampaRL. That is exactly what I have. I have been keeping my sunshade closed to muff the squeaking.

I just got it back, no more noise. I hope it's stay that way.

It will likley return, eventually. Either add onto your car care regiment to lubricate it periodically, or ask for it when you are in for service....or BOTH!

i'm not sure where you live MITIA, but usually I need to get my sunroof relubed after the winter months. the cold tends to dry out the lubricants. usually i get it redone at my first oil change of the spring. hope that helps. or like TampaRL said, you could just do it yourself.
