Squeaks?
Squeaks?
The plastic piece that runs around the gear shift has been squeaking quite a bit in cold weather. I can push down on the section between the gear shift and this ashtray to make it squeak. Needless to say, every time I hit a bump or ride over rough road its squeaks. Anyone have any fix for it or can explain how to remove the piece. Would this be considered an item for warranty.
When I press down on the section and ride over rough road, no squeaks.
Thanks

Do a search - many of us have fixed this. Basically, remove the 'Not an Ashtray' bin and the gear shift/console cover. Get some adhesive-backed felt from a hobby store and line all edges that would touch the plastic next to them. It works wonders.
For the record in case others have problems, I was able to fix this squeak myself. You do not have to remove the "not an ash tray." The center housing that surrounds the gear shift and which holds the power outlet and seat heater switches comes off, it's held on with four clips, one at each corner. Pry it off starting from the back of the center housing (where it borders the cupholder). When I pried it off, I thought it was going to crack, but it held up fine. After prying it off, I put some felt backed tape where the squeak was coming from, near the ashtray where the center vertical columns meet the housing and its now quiet as a mouse.
Next is to replace the bulb for the passenger heater switch. Would have done it all at the same time, but didn't realize how easy it was to take out.
