some new issues with my 2006 RL
some new issues with my 2006 RL
the front-right headlight (not high-beam light) is intermittently working. i have noticed it flashing on and off quickly while I was driving last 1-2 weeks.
the mechanic told me the headlight assembly is $1500. the front brake pads were $220 or so from dealer, he said it's same brand (Brembo). he used some japanese sounding brand that were $120.
is it normal to resurface the rotors when you install new brake pads? he said it is.
i have backup camera on this car as well. This morning the navi screen was not showing; it was stuck in reverse mode apparently and showing the backup camera view in the screen rather than navi. But that went away when i parked and put in drive again.
The light is functional, but it seems to go out sometimes, not sure why. any advice appreciated.

I'm sure I'll be the first of many responses you get. The headlight problem is well documented here (just do a search) and it's almost certainly the bulb. I had the same problem on my 05 a couple of months ago. If you are a "do it yourselfer", you can get the replacement bulb online for about $60.00. It's a 30-minute job, but a little tricky. Your "mechanic" is WWAAYY off base if he's telling you to spend $1,500 on an assembly.
Sounds right for pads and YES you want to have the rotors resurfaced when installing new pads. Some will tell you to get aftermarket pads, but if you drive easy/normal the stock ones will probably be best (even if they cost more).
If you can get them to replace the struts under the dealer warranty...do it! If not, I don't know if I would worry about it too much. I was at NTB the other day and was told I should be concerned about my struts (about 45k miles). I'm not going to do anything for quite sometime. Let me know if the dealer and/or extended warranty covers yours. Maybe I'll have mine done afterall!
