Some input needed...

I'm dong some research for my dad. He was initially leaning towards buying a new TL (with Nav), but if he could get a great deal on (an almost) new RL I think he'd go for it.

Anyway, I found this black on black '07 RL with just 172 miles for sale for $42,995. The dealership listing includes very few details and doesn't mention if it has the technology package or not. I'm begining to think it doesn't, but the wood looks real to me and it has a big screen that looks like it could be a NAV.

So please, set me straight based on these pics...Does this RL have the technology package or not?

So what's the verdict? Is that a nav system or just a trip computer?

Also, what's the general consensus on the base RL? Is it a mistake to go that route? Does the fake wood look cheap up close?

Finally, what do you think is a fair price for the car in the pictures (currently being offered for $42,995)?

Thanks a lot!

Why don't you just call them?
I don't think you can tell from these pics, but seems suspicous that they would not show the Nav on the screen if it had Navi.

Got a reply. It's a base model.

Any thoughts on what a fair price would be?

The car is an early 07 model as it has shark fin on top.
Last month, on the dealer lot, I saw a base white (new) 07 for ~40k price tag. I think you can go below 40k.
Look like in Seattle, people are interested more in RL than many parts of the country? Bellevue dealer has 15 08 in stock! I've check dealers in California, Florida, they have a few only. I had a hard time to negotiate a 08, and no luck

For $42K you should be able to get a nav-equipped (Tech) model.

I paid $44K a month ago for a NEW 07 with CMBS/PAX (which is the next level UP from the Tech) - so - no - that is NOT a good deal - it is a very BAD deal in my opinion.

$42,995 for a base RL? with 172 miles on it already? You can get a tech model for that with halfway decent negotiation skills.

NOT a good deal. Time to negotiate! Preferably to under $40k if you can.

I advise you look at the "RL owner sign in" sticky thread at the top of the forum so that you can get an idea of what people are paying for the base model.

See this thread for ideas on how to get a good price.

The dealer in Serramonte,CA offered me a 07 in black with CMBS/PAX for $44K - but it wasn't my color.

Shipping to Seattle would probably be under $1K - or the price of a ticket on Alaska/Southwest and a 2 day drive home

I would say that it has a LOT to do with your area. I was just in my local dealer today completing my A1 service and they had an '05 RL on the showroom floor stickered at 38K! Granted, I don't know what the miles were, but wow, $38K for an '05.

As far a options, I wish I had waited for a latter model with ACC. I'm also in IT and it's all about the bell's & wistles! This car HAS the toys!!

with the 3.5k in marketing support, I paid 38k for an RL now tech. Lots of dealers were willing to do the 38k...no better....limited availability
