How do I update my NAV software firmware to latest version?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. My 06 RL currently is running 4.6v but my software is on 1.1v. I believe the disc is only a map update. right??

There is a software update required when moving from older Nav versions to 4.7 and newer. I'm not sure if it is required from 4.6, but it was for me when I upgraded from 4.5. You can go to the alpine site and select what version you are running and order the update. They will send you 2 disks if you require the software update in addition to the map update. You install and run the software update disk first, then load the map disk.

FWIW, I am using 4.7x and software version was 1.8.x

I did not write it down, so that is from memory...I can't remember all the final version numbers.
