Small slot next to "P" in shift gate bezel

So I'm a BIT of a perfectionist and every time I look down at my shifter bezel, I see that the little 1 inch by 1/4 inch cover to the "slot" next to the "P" for park, is missing.

Has anyone ever been driven nuts by this? Is there even a part number to order a new one?

I don't even know what that little slot is for.

I absolutely would be driven nuts by that! It's the cover to the shift selector lock override, so if you need to shift out of park but you can't because of a blown fuse or not being able to step on the brake first, or some other reason, you can just push your key into that slot and while holding the key down, you can shift out of park.

If you are missing the cover... go here:

Part #18. That's what you need for $4.20.

But surely it was worth the price. It was just that much better quality right? You know some German painstakingly handcrafted that part...

Once again a question that is answered easily by reading the Owner's Manual. Amazing how informative those damn things are!!

Thanks all...and yes it was in the owners manual. I try not to clog the board with obvious questions but in this case I was also a) wondering if everyoelse was driven crazy if theirs was missing too, and b.) how to order, part number, etc.

Does any one know what specific time the world ends today? I'd like to get one last trip in to the coffee shop. On the hand I probably don't really need to do laundry

the problem is, today is tomorrow in Australia so...don't hold your breath and go to your laundry, I know I still have to do mine cause unless we blow up all at once, I'll need something to wear tomorrow.
