Shocks and struts

Shocks and struts
Been searching around and can't find much on shocks and struts for non-aspec cars. What brands of struts and shock are made for the RL (I have an 05). Tirerack only lists kyb for the struts, any good? What about rear shocks?
Do the springs also need replacing at same time?
Is the job easy to do on the RL?
I'm at 96k miles so time is probably against me.

The KYB's are just OEM replacements. Couldn't really tell you if they're better or worse than OEM. They're probably better than most OE replacements.
If the car isn't sagging at all, the springs are probably okay. Most Honda/Acura OEM springs last the life of the car.
The job isn't too bad. You will need a spring compressor to change out the fronts. Air tools and an extra set of hands will make the job a lot easier but aren't absolutely necessary. Have you ever done suspension work before?

You may want to reference this thread if you're going to do it yourself:

It's an ASpec suspension install write-up but most of the steps are the same. You'll also need to disassemble the front strut/spring assemblies. Whatever you do, DO NOT remove the top hats of the front assemblies without having the spring compressed. The spring has enough force behind it to knock you the fuck out.

Thanks. I've done suspension work before. Done shocks and struts on my 86 911 and 93 968. It's not a hard job as long as things go as they should. I have access to spring compressor and have air tools.
Are the kyb also available for the shocks? I only see them for the front struts. I have no issues with the RL suspension. Just starting to feel vibration at hwy speeds so thinking its time.

Yeah. I would start with having your tires rebalanced before you go replacing suspension components. KYB does make the rears too. TireRack just doesn't have them on their site. It's part number 349195.

Reviews for the KYBs are shit, even from Odyssey owners. They probably do fine for a Carolla or untuned Civic, but the RL is a heavy pig.
I second BDogg about springs lasting forever. I also am of the belief that in a car like the RL where ride quality is a top priority, struts should be changed as often as timing belts.

The only choice is Acura for rears. KYB or Acura for front. I had to replace all as they went real bad about 3 months after I bought my 2006 at around 100,000 miles. Fronts are not real hard to remove but take to someone with a real compressor to change out. The rear seat has to come out to replace rears, not too difficult.

They are discontinued I believe. I have a set of A-spec springs for sale if you want to mate them with ur premium shocks. It will give u 1 inch drop.
