Shifting not so smooth

Lately I've been feeling rougher shifting on the RL. Usually this is more apparent when there's no load on the transmission ie. cruising and moving though gears.

It's not really bad but it's noticable from the norm. I have 60K miles on the car now, maybe it's time for a trans flush?

Are rear diff flushes needed as well? I've heard mixed reviews when I had my S2000 on changing out the fluid, didn't know how that applies to the RL.

RL Rear Diff change is governed by the MID. Mine called for one at about 12K miles and 38K miles.

While not called for, a tranny fluid drain and fill (about 4 qts) makes a noticeable difference for me after 40K miles. Much smoother. This is not the dual drain and fill flush procedure described in January 2008 Acura ServiceNews, but rather a simple drain and fill (leaving the majority of the fluid still in the torque converter).

I think I may work another two drain and fills (about 8 qts) this weekend (only had time for one drain and fill last weekend). Then I will have approximated the stevesrl 3x3 ATF drain and fill procedure.

At 60K, it getting about time for a tranny fluid change. I waited an extra 10K miles only because most of my miles are highway miles.

I recently got another change at 105K, and, it's my feeling, the feel in the change is the same with an oil change. Nothing to toot my horns about.

I think it was the extra 2lbs of pressure in the tires that made the tranny shift smoother.

Changing out the fluids can't hurt. Honda fluids aren't the most durable.

No I'm not a Honda engineer, just an inquisitive engineer. My inquisitiveness, on this occasion, was regarding how the engine filter would have an effect on an automatic transmission. If it does, however, I would not see why the tire pressure wouldn't have an effect as well. Stranger theories do exist.

I commented on my own observation of how my tranny was acting for a month prior to filter change and a month after.

it is not a technical point of view but just what I observed.

I think feeding air to the engine and tire pressure are not very comparable.
