SH-AWD in reverse

With a KB1 I’m aware that when starting out in slick conditions 2nd gear should be manually chosen to engage the rear diff.

How does this this work in reverse? We just got 5-8 inches of snow so I’ve been backing in everywhere to minimize the chances of getting stuck.

Is this the best practice? Do I have power to the rear wheels in reverse?

How do you know that? I thought the car always pulls with all 4 from 1st gear on. So KB2 is different?

Why don't you just press the snow button & go for Boring-AWD?

No - they're bottom right.

The SNOW button is above the brightness controls on the LHS.

Oh, that's right actually - my crummy old Honda has one where as your posh Acurae don't...you've been suckered again!

It cancels the SH- bit and it makes it regular AWD. I've only once used it, when parked on a snowy grass slope.

Ohhh.. well there you go. Yea, we don't have that option on an RL.

The other weird thing many found, is that Canadian models have cooled seats, but ones sold in south US do not :s Seems in line with who get's a 'snow' button and who doesn't kinda thingy.

They should've just called it 'SH Off' on yours for universality

Well, imagine my disappointment when it didn't deliver a line of stimulant for tired drivers...

Interesting... We had 9" fall about a week ago. I had trouble backing up into my driveway. My dad was following me in his Subaru Outback and commented something about how his AWD was superior because he had no difficulty while I was spinning and sliding all over the place.

The forward gears seem to be ok, even from a dead stop in 1st, but I'l have to try the 2nd gear trick next time. That's the first I've heard of it.

The snow button was only on Euro deliveries as far as I know. They shorted us in North America lol

That'll be the North America that has the so-called snow belt in it?

Honda are baffling sometimes. Quite a lot of the time, actually.

Honda did a lot of puzzling things. Another weird thing they did: send ventilated seats to Canadian RLs but not to US ones. US spec RLs have XM radio, Canada spec ones do not. Who knows what the thought process was there.

I probably should have specified years. What I said applies to ‘05-‘08
