Sad Farewell
We had an accident recently and the RL was written off. My mother and sister were in the car and they were completely safe, the Onstar well worth the monthly fee. Sad really, we loved it despite its flaws and we wont be getting another because Acura has completely lost us with their new "improved" ones.

As much as it stinks that the RL is wrecked, luckily your mom and sister are all right, and that's the most important thing. And there are some great deals on CPO RLs.

Poor RL .
I'm so glad your dear ones were safe and it looks like the RL did its job.

2020 Acura RLX Advance
Glad you are all ok.........your Acura did its' job and gave its' life for you!
If you do not not go the CPO route for another RL, I highly recommend a test drive in the new 2010 Ford Taurus.........It is about the only domestic nameplate car I would ever consider. I test drove the Limited model yesterday just as a curious FMC shareholder. I will be buying more Ford stock come Monday am.
For the money, Ford really hit the sweet spot.....I am not willing to part with my RL or my Acura concierge level dealer service, but I was blown away with how far Ford has come. Looks, great interior, and drove exceptionally well.......the dealer handed me the keys to a brand new 2010 Lincoln MKS twin turbo EcoBoost and quite frankly I think most people will be hard pressed to understand why the Lincoln has a $15k price premium.
Maybe your Ford dealer will have a SHO to test out.
Good luck, and yes, that OnStar really does work when needed most.

Ouch, but glad everyone's okay. Nice to know that Acura builds the safest cars around
If you want the same RL as the previous one(before the MMC), you can always get one from Taiwan (Honda Legend). They still have the old body exterior, and it's left hand drive like in the states. But it'll run you around 80k with everything I suppose.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
We did consider a CPO car but decided it was better to get a BMW 5 Series because my mother seems to like how BMW's drive and their astonishing fuel economy (my 3 Series has been great in that regard).

don't get that bmw in a wreck as their safety isn't top notch like RL and the chances of a total loss are higher since the components are priceless, good luck!

First and foremost: I am glad everyone is ok.
Second: Another testimony regarding the safety aspects of the RL.
Last but not least: If it were me I would purchase another 2nd generation RL same color and purchase the totaled RL from the insurance company. This gives you access to lots of spare parts. At a minimum, I would purchase the totaled RL and part it out. People who do this make a fortune. If you are not interested, I would be.
Where is it located?
Do you know how much they want?
What was the mileage?
How fast were you going when it got hit?

Better beat pshue to it!
Glad everyone was OK. I'd too want the same safety with another RL. On another thread someone posted 08RLs new were available from a local dealer at $15K off sticker. I'd pay for the shipping at that cost.
And from someone who was scraped off the road with ONSTAR on the phone until the paramedics arrived....I too will pay for that service.

Terribly sorry for those who asked me to part it out. We don't have the time or the willingness to make anything like that work.
V8 power is so tempting () but we probably will stick to the inline 6 models for efficiency. But hope you get one of them (E55 especially), they really are great cars.
