RL's in salvage yards
RL's in salvage yards
I have had most of the problems that many of you have mentioned with the RL (pull handle snapping off, AFS unit, leather pulling off the arm rest...ect) What I was wondering was if anyone had any luck in finding RL's in junkyards/salvage yards where you can have them ship the parts off the cars to you at a discount price vs paying the high prices at the dealer. The pull handle installed from the dealer is over 400, the center console where the leather is is 600 and AFS is 1000... anyone have a better way of getting parts and DIY??
Just not that many sold... so the junkyards won't be the best bet.
The best way to save money on replacements is learning how to install the stuff yourself. There is an OEM on here that beats my local dealer by at least 15%.
For all of the leather work, if you find a good upholster, they can do things better than OEM replacement parts at less cost.

You can check EBay, but Professor is right, there aren't a lot sold so parts are not easily available.
If the vinyl/leather (whatever you want to call it) on your console is damaged, there are people that can repair that stuff. Check with your dealer and ask them who they use for leather repair. They can do some pretty amazing stuff.
