RL Newb

Good morning / afternoon,

After a few months of searching on and off for an Acura RL, I have finally purchased one. She's a 2006 Premium White Pearl exterior on black leather interior, mint conditioned beauty. I can't get over how well this car drives and how quiet it is.

Of course, the AFS light came on but I ordered a new Stroke Sensor (Hopefully this is the cure).

I have read numerous threads and feel this forum is going to come in handy a lot.

I look forward to contributing information as much as I can and with confidence, as well as knowledge.

I reside in Ottawa, Ontario and am pretty sure I have the 2nd Acura RL of this gen in town.

Cheers!

welcome, two things.

1. Get a new battery if you havent already
a. if you have make sure you reset the car
2. change all your fluids, drain and refill everything.

Appreciate the heads up.
Battery was just replace beginning of April from previous owner as were all the fluids, except the diff fluids - Car is at my mechanics now having the safety done and the transfer case + diffs flushed and filled.

Cool, a general rule of thumb is to keep a "good" battery in the car.

I put good in quotes because the date doesn't matter, these cars are sensitive to voltage/current levels and we have had new batteries not perform.

Lastly make sure your mechanic knows that there are two rear diff chambers and ensure they are both filled.

Go easy when you close the doors. The interior pull handles are delicate and some have been broken. Mine never broke, but felt like they were about to. I always grabbed it from the lowest point possible, right before it goes into the door armrest. That part felt the most secure.

The RL has self closing doors once you get the doors off the pivot/lock thing. So a gentle tug is all that is needed.

I have learned to close the doors by placing my palm on the flat shelf part of the door panel and push downward and in which closes the door.

The battery was changed at the Acura dealership, so I assume it was a decent battery placed back in...and they charged the previous owner $60 to change it *blows my mind*. I will inform my mechanic about the 2 diff ports in the rear diff.

Good information regarding the door handle, thank you.

$60 for a new battery blows your mind? Hopefully in a good way.

I believe he said $60 to instal the battery. Not $60 to buy the battery.
