RL extended warranty

Did any of you purchase the extended warranty when you bought the RL? This is the one up to 7yrs/100k miles. Considering the technology/computerized system of this car, is it worthwile to extend the warranty? If you actually purchased it, how much extra did you pay? Any input is appreciated!

Does anyone have a better price than $1250 for the 7year/100K mile warranty with $0 ded.?

You have to be careful with third party warranty's. What guarantee is there that the warranty provider will actually be around in 7 years?

I'd stick with Honda/Acura even if it costs more.

I was told that they are not third party, they are an authorized Acura dealer sellling an Acura Warranty. I called to verify if that is correct and it also states it on the website. Also another forum indicated that some of the memebers have bought from them also.
If they are not legitimate, please update me.

I looked at the website and I believe it's not 3rd party. You can claim the warranty at any Acura dealer in USA. $1250 is the lowest I've seen, my dealer asked for $1900+ with $0 ded, the only good thing is it's money-back guarantee, if you don't use it or never make any claim till it expires, you'd get 100% back. But whoa....the price difference!

I think it may still be risky.

How does this work? Most likely, they are an authorized Acura warranty provider which means that you take your vehicle to any Acura and Acura recovers the money from the warranty provider.

Now what happens if the warranty provider goes bankrupt? Is Acura going to pay for the repair????

It's worth finding out - read the fine print or better yet, ask the dealer!!!

I called the dealer and inquired. They answered the phone Curry Acura. I then asked to speak to a new car salesperson. I was connected to one. I called the number listed in the FAQ's and they said this is the exact same Acura warranty you would buy at any Acura dealer from American Honda anywhere else just for less money. Simply because they sell far more of them than anyone else on the internet. My guess is that they sell the in volume and get a break on them as a result.

The warranty provider is Acura (Not third party). If they go bankrupt then we are all in the same boat anyway.

You buy the Acura Warranty (it's not third party) and go to your Acura dealer or Honda if one not arround (need Acura approval to got to Honda dealer) and they will have it in the system. All repairs covered under Acura Waranty.

Cant be anymore plain than that to me. It is the exact same information I found on Acura's website.

Quote I got online from link above was $1320 with a $50 ded.

The other site was Curry Acura and the price was $1250 with $0 ded. I may need to call the dealer you had to get that price.

Some questions on the extended warranty for a 2005 RL:

1. How much time do I have after delivery of my new RL to purchase the extended warranty either from my dealer or the online dealer listed above?

2. Does the extended warranty cover all of the same things as the original 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty or are some things not included in the extended?

3. Has anyone here actually purchased the extended warranty from anyone other than their original dealer - either online or in person?

1A:I am not exactly sure how much time you have but I think you have anytime before your existing warranty expires. (Someone jump in if I am wrong)

2A: My understanding is that is is an extension on the 4yr/50K mile warranty. The coverage is extended to the length of term for the new contract.

3A: I have not purchased this warranty but intend to do so, if we decide to keep the car. I saw on some other forums that some other guys had purchased from this Acura dealer and it was the same contract others purchased locally. However, my wife has not been driving it as much as said she was saving the miles.
