RL Accessories

* What is good place (web) to buy genuine acura RL accessories ?
* How do you install them (where installation is needed) ?
* Is this advisable or should one go to the dealer only ?

Try http://www.acuraparts247.com/sunnyside/jsp/home.jsp

I bought floormats and wood shift knob. Actual Honda/Acura parts at a discount. Shipped close to immediate and no surprises. I'll use them again.

Most of the RL accessories requires professional installation, so you might want to schedule that with your dealer.

I bought a spoiler and wood shift knob from these guys.
http://acura.autowebaccessories.com/...cat642_814.php

The items are genuine acura parts in Acura packaging.

If you want to read the actual Honda installation instructions go to
https://hond.hostasaurus.com/Merchant2/instructions/rl/

The wood shift knob replacement is simply unscrew and screw on the new one.

The installation of the spoiler is a two step process, The spoiler itself which is rather straight forward and the replacement of the mechanism that lifts and hold the trunk open which is more complicated.

Replacement of the lift and hold mechanism is not required since the weight of the spoiler is slight. A local body shop installed the spoiler in about half an hour for $35. I'll store the lift and hold pistons until such time as needed. Which will probably be a long time. I believe the bulk of the cost of the spoiler kit is tied up in the lift and hold parts. On the upside though the fact that the spoiler is painted is a giant plus. The shop told me to prepare and paint the spoiler would have cost approximately $180.

No need for a dealer on this stuff.

Can anyone recommend a high quality front windshield sun screen cut for the RL? Prefer one that is solid but folds for storage.

Thanks for ideas, prices, and sites to buy from.

I just bought a custom cut windshield heatshield yesterday. I'm done with those nylon wire edged pieces of junk. I got it at Stevens Creek Acura when I brought my RL in for its first service. It's called the Heatshield Advanced Windshield Reflector. Pattern #1039 fits Acura RL: 2005. Made by Canvas Works, Sunnyvale, CA. You can order it online at canvasworks.com

Has anyone installed the door visors yet? I have the WeatherTech visors on my Jeep and like the them especially in summer. Was the install difficult? What do you think of the quality of the product? Where did you order it from? Thanks

I would like to know if anyone has gotten updates on the Underbody Spoiler...bought it with the car in December and still waiting for the factory to ship to the dealer. Did I buy a part I will never see?

I am looking for high quality front windshield sun screen for the RL:

I have seen posting for the following two. Other than price difference any other comments on why pick one over the other:

1) http://www.covercraft.com/buy_online.htm

2) canvasworks.com

Thanks

I don't know about the Canvasworks product. I looked at it on line and did not like the roll up feature.

I have had 3 Covercraft covers now (Acura RL 2000, TL-S 2002 and Rl 2005)
and the covercraft fits and works well.

I looked through the 2005 Acura RL Accessory Brochure and it lists the underbody spoiler as an accessory, but when I go to Acura's Ownerslink website, it is not listed in their e-store......maybe you'll have to wait a bit longer.

Yes the latest update from Acura CS is that the part is no longer listed as an available part. There are not sure if the A-Spec kit will even be released. Yikes! All the cool stuff and never a release date. I will wait a bit longer.

My dealer told me that the A-Spec kit will be available when the 06 RL shows up.
