Resonator delete sound?
Has any one delete the resonator for better sound. I had a 2004 acura tl that i did stage 4 mod. And that was removing the mid-muffler and resonators and replaced it with 3" flang back to factory mufflers and it sounded great!!! I wanted to do something similar.

well pretty much what he is saying is and goes for anyone's car is if you don't have a stand alone ECU where you can tune the engine to any mods you do your mods will most likely make your car slower over all. When tuning you can sometimes get double the claimed hp ratings but rarely you will put a bolt on mod and get what they say hp's. I would say the best mods for this car are wheels ,tires ,suspention ,camber kit and dont cheep out get the good shit!! and when in doubt go OEM

yes, NA cars require some amount of back pressure to build up torque, but 99% of a resonators job is to reduce sound; they're not really very restrictive.
I dont how see replacing resonators with straight pipe would reduce power.

the exhaust is not a steady flow - it pulses. The full exhaust is too long of a pipe, too many obstructions for the pulses to resonate strongly against the back of the exhaust valves so the energy wave pules can create a vacuum to help pull spent gases out. Think of it like a kid on a swing - if the energy wave is just starting to move away from the back of the valve as the valve pops open it helps scavenge the gases by creating a slight vacuum just before the valve opens. The resonator places a big area in the pipe where a backwards wave is generated. If you remove it the only wave will come from the tail pipe and none of it will get to the valve. Race cars don't use resonators because their exhaust systems are short and unobstructed.

Well since the RL isnt a race car and 6HP loss is hardly anything someone will notice, back to the topic at hand. Does anyone have a sound clip? I found the thread BlazingGT posted his video in but he's taken them down.

I had a custom performance shop before and you know most of the money we made was fixing other shops #uck ups and putting things back to stock because they like what they did to the car at the time but realize short time later it was dumb and have to pay again to put it back. For example do you think the car will be easier or harder to sell after you make the exhust louder? Just trying to help!

are you daft? not only will it make it EASIER to sell the car, it will like increase the cars value by 80% or more. the average RL driver (senior citizen women) LOVES a japanese car that sounds like a monster truck. when you're ready to sell it, just cut the exhaust off and remove the headers, toss in some 296° cams to make it lobe like a madman and put some of those awesome buick oval vent looking things on the fender, then park it in front of a retirement home with a "for sale" sign on the back and you'll have your car sold for double blue book value in no time

we belong to another car forum as many of you do. One of the fellows there shall we say mellowed the exhaust and made more noise. Now the wife refuses to ride in the car with the baby because it is so loud and the fellow is searching for an easy solution to lower the sound. I see him having to sell it if wife isn't happy as she is tired of baby crying all the time and has to sit in the back to quiet the baby. He and she can't converse because it is too loud. So, yeah, pull that whole exhaust out and make it loud cause when I go to sell my RL in 2 years it will be comforting knowing there is one less to compete with.

The OP says "for better sound" but does not define it. My idea of a better sound would be as close to silence as possible unless it is a V12 Ferrari in which case I would want to hear it. If you are a typical rice-grinder owner then a 3 inch hole at the back making a boom to compete with your 15 inch sub-woofer is probably your idea of better sound.
The RL is a complete package and IMHO 90% of the mods delete from its attributes.

I removed my resognators and added magnaflow mufflers. The car sounds good I get a lot of compliments. I have a video up in my rl picture thread, but it sucks cause my camera is trash and I cant take video to save my life. I really dont feel any difference in power. I actually lost some gas mileage just because I floor it to hear tje exhaust more. As far as trade in value most dealers dont like modded cars as a trade. But when it comes to private sales its all on the buyer. I dont think it would ruin you chances of selling. For every square that hates loud exhaust their are at least ten heads that will love it. If you dont do any research before you mod your car its a50/50 chance your not gonna like it. But I rather have my car the way I want it then the way others want it. To each his own. I love when people call a car they dont like rice instead of saying they are not feeling it. This forum is for helpfull write ups not bashing. We should concentrate on the question he asked and not whether you like it or not.

Personally, I think the stock exhaust is bc it has a low growl at idle, but can barely be heard while cruising. Road noise and wind already demimish the stereo quality enough at highway speed without throwing in an exhaust drone. But them again, like Tjay said, to each his own, and I know him and I differ on tint preference.

This is the 2 mufflers removed and 2 resonators. The car still have 2 more resonators on.
I love the sound...maybe because I am 21 year old jerk off lmao
