Rear lip spoiler in premium white pearl?
Anyone have this? I had the small lip spoiler on my TL and thought it looked so sharp. What are your thoughts on the more curved shape of the ass of the RL? I'd love to see some pics of the white lip.....

Sorry for the photo quality, I just went out and snapped them for this thread. I think the spoiler makes the RL look much better. My wife wouldn't have the car without it.

Is the spoiler visible in the rear-view mirror, or when you turn around to back up? I like the idea of being able to see the trunklid when parking and such.

Good question. I did the same thing when I posted pictures of a car for sale on Ebay. I don't know about anyone else, but speaking for myself it was probably just a bit of paranoia in this age of identify theft, etc.

I have the spoiler and I agree it improves the RL's "rump" remarkably. It eliminates the droopy butt look completely. There is one downside, unlike in the TL, where replacement trunk spring is part of the upgrade. On the RL it is not, therefore, your trunk lid will not pop-up when you unlock it.

The instructions for installation shows new struts, presumably with a little more "oomph" so the trunk lid will continue to pop up. However, I have read many choose not to install the struts, and just tape the spoiler on. Ditto with drilling 4 holes. It would be painful drilling into that beautiful aluminum trunk lid.

My spoiler was installed by the dealer the conventional way (not taped). My trunk DOES NOT pop up when opened. I believe the struts are to hold up the extra weight, not necessaily to provide the little "pop", springs do that. I think that's what they replaced when I had a spoiler installed on my '01 TL.

On the TL the spring is replaced to alow it to pop up. Not really a big deal, however I do wonder if the "non spoilered" RL trunk does pop or not.

Just how much popping up are we talking about?
I don't have a spoiler, and my trunk barely moves when I open it with either the remote or the driver's door trunk release. I wish the car gave an audio and/or visual indication when the truck is unlocked with the remote.

That answers the question.
Those of us with spoilers complain the trunk does not fully open when it is unlocked. It moves up a few inches. We were wondering if that was because of the spoiler or what. Sounds like the spoiler doesn't make a difference
A car in this class should have struts on the trunk that fully open it when unlocked. This helps when you are approaching the car with both hands full and a remote in your hand.

For example, the hood has pretty strong struts to support it's weight. You don't see it popping up, even after you unlatch it from the outside of the car.

Actually, does the RL have strunts or springs in the trunk? I don't remember.
I knew the TL had springs, and you had to put stronger ones when you installed a spoiler. Nothing is immediately visible when you open the trunk, so I don't know for sure.

As far as a visual indication on the remote....that's one of the options asked about on a recent survey, so Acura has considered this. Good on them!
