It is a rant. And the inital post is talking about the ticking sound you hear when blinker is on, and once you straighten the wheel blinker stick makes a 'breaking sound' going into neutral position - as in not left, not right.

Seriously Bond, some detective skills please. this was quite obvious.

I think it is such a trivial issue I overlooked the obviousness. I prefer the blinker ticks so that asshats on the road may have a chance to remember their blinker is on and turn it off.

As for the breaking sound, it's a car, c'mon. I would expect a Bugatti to make that sound. Like someone else said, there are a good number of issues that Acura overlooked on the RL. At least this feature doesn't actually break.

(Yes, I understand what a rave is. )

The RL isn't supposed to be designed for the "asshats'.

I'm not sure if the bughati has this ticking sound, but i'm saying it sounds as cheap as an old 80's honda. it's a fair Rant.

Given that new cars are getting progressively worse I much prefer older designs...

I'm starting to get the impression we just don't have enough to complain about with the 2G RL that we're sitting here talking about how loud the blinker click is

I remember reading this from the Camry forums, but you can replace the relay so it becomes noiseless. Look at this page, they even list clicking noise as a yes/no choice:

https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/...oad-resistors/

I suppose if it bothers you enough you could spend the 13$

Edit: This fix was originally intended for LED flasher replacement but I suppose it can be used to fix the issue being discussed.

I have my original steering wheel with all functional buttons if anyone is having this issue and is interested in fixing it. Swapped out for a wood wheel that had all the buttons already on it. Just putting it out there. Pm me and we can work something out.

The srs, cmsb and acc lights are not coming on. Really rarely. But twice so far i've had a very irritating problem: The ignotion switch doesn't turn on. it's like it's locked in. it turns just a bit, steering wheel moves towards me a bit, then retracts coz ignotion didn't go all the way thru. i press the brakes, no change. i thought i wasn't coming out of my garage today. it happened again later on. Anyone had a problem like this when you try to turn the ignition and its stuck?

Also, while warming up in morning, and while driving, the rpm misses a heartbeat. you feel the car do a little hiccup.. as if stopping, then going on normally. Dunno how to describe it more.

what is that?

Where is your key fob when that happens? Is it anywhere near a cell phone or laptop? If so, you are experiencing EMI which is corrupting the fob signal.

If it isn't near an electronic, do you have some kind of aux power device plugged in, USB charger, inverter, or anything else in the cigarette lighter socket? That can cause enough EMI as well.

Your hiccup issue isn't normal. Initial thoughts are spark plugs or injectors.

I don't see much raving going on in here. We need to balance this thread out, or I'll be forced to change the thread title.

How about that third gear?

I do love hearing that VTEC open up on these 3.5's. Dear god did those words just come from my mouth?
Lol, I use to make fun of people who swore by VTEC, I honestly just love hear it open up, and feeling the slight push into the seat feeling.

I love that I drive a unicorn everyday (Aspec). See RLs every now and then but never an Aspec which makes me appreciate her even more.

High RPMs in 2nd/3rd are fun, especially in corners. I definitely drive my RL harder than most & while she may not be light on her feet, I can still get a little giddy daily

I have an hour commute every morning & i can't complain one bit. Driver seat has seen better days but the level of comfort never ceases to amaze me and I haven't even talked about the adjustable headrests..

Every time I walk away from the car I ALWAYS look back, never gets old.

I can keep going…

Okkk... so the key fob presence allows the ignition key to turn? I think both mine need battery's, and yes, it'd be in my coat pocket next to my cell phone. Is that it? interference?

For the hiccup, could it be that ground battery cable? That's triggering the lights on dash, as well as breaks in power?

Mechanic checked spark plugs before buying it, he said it was ok, but very hard to remove. He thinks they've never been changed.

For Raves, well, how does one open up that vtech? I know that I am not having nostalgia on the road when i need to step on it, This car responds!

I remember reading a post from TampaRL that reflects the way I feel about the RL. He said that the RL has a certain understated execution, which I definitely agree with. I hate to say it's going to be very hard to replace the RL with something comparable but newer.

I do love my car, and it still puts a smile on my face driving it and looking at it. On another note, because I have the A-Spec kit and with the RL being as "rare" as it is, I've had so many conversations start with "Hey, nice car, what is it?". I can definitely appreciate that aspect of it.

U describe my feelings in my first post. U do feel it can be more and wonder why not. It's had to express it in words and understated comes quite close.

Yes, your fob being near an electronic can cause interference. A low battery will only exacerbate the issue.

Intake butterfly valves open up at 3500 RPM. VTEC solenoid engages at 5100 RPM IIRC.

ASpec is the aftermarket factory performance line from Acura. Mostly aesthetic stuff. It's comparable to Lexus' recent F-sport options. (Not to be confused with F-type.)

You have an '09 RL (often referred to as MMC, mid-model change)? The RL ASpec line was dropped after '08.

Right under you screen name, it says new member. I'm not sure what the requirements are, but it will turn to registered member, and you'll be good to go on the edits.

Aspec's also came with stiffer suspension from factory. Unfortunately the MMC RL's (09+) didn't have it as an option.

Unicorn indeed. My 06 has the tech package, which included CMBS. I also had the dealer installed rear parking sensors added. In the past 10 years, I've only seen one other pre-MMC RL on the road with CMBS. It's nice driving a car that you hardly ever see. Mine is in pristine condition, so people are quite shocked when I tell them it's 10+ years old.

Here's a legitimate rant for your 09.... Acura redesigned the whole exterior, but left the interior untouched. Your interior is the same as my 05 interior..

They added wood trim around the shifter trim & the cup holders but for the most part it's the same.

I don't think anyone is complaining though

They didn't redesign the whole exterior. They changed some panels and light housings. And like teh CL said, they added the wood steering wheel stock, changed the shifter to have a leather boot and "wood" trim, turned the paddle shifters on all the time, added black wood as an option...

The changes are more than the exterior, but they were not enough for a model redesign.

Yes. You're right. They did a few visible changes but generally the same. Here's mine if you didn't see it. https://acurazine.com/forums/photogr...ctures-941912/

I saw yours in there, nice car. Dunno if our RLs qualify for a similar photoshoots like your Mustang, but i'm certainly up for giving it a go!

The driver and passenger lights, both are yellow enough and strong enough, to light the whole car by themselves separately. even the back light are too strong individually. The lights lack direction. they spread light not aim it where it's supposed to be.

And did i mention mileage? yes I did. Well, I don't think this one gets any old.

On a positive note, my newborn girl came home for the first time today. The little sounds she's making on the vtech radio near me are just melodies of pure Joy.
