Quick Question- Jack Stand Placement

Guys,

Searched, came up dry. If you had to take all 4 wheels off at the same time i.e. to paint calipers, where would you place the jack stands?

I was going to jack the rear and use stands, then just use the floor Jack at my center front point and remove all 4 wheels to paint the calipers with G2 today, however I can't exactly tell where I should be using stands on the rear. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

use the 4 pinch welds on the side of the car. jack up the rear by the diff cover (put a old towel on there for the metal to metal contact. and in the front jack up on the front subframe

I thought the rear point was where the eyehook attaches, if I recall correctly.

Unless you have a floor jack that raises extremely high you won't be able to get it high enough to put jack stands on the rear using the rear tow hook. I have a Craftsman aluminum race jack. It extends further than any of my friends' jacks and it barely even gets the tires off the ground in the rear using the tow hook. You could put a couple blocks of wood between the jack and the hook and might be able to get it high enough.

Personally, I jack it up on the rear subframe.

I've used a bottle jack on a block of wood, seemed to work fine.

Got it done. I jacked the front off the center point, and used the stands on the frame rail. I then jacked the rear using the sub frame and the floor jack. Worked great. Calipers look great as well.

Will do. I went G2 orange. My RL is Carbon. I did them solid orange as I didn't have time yet to dicker with the Acura Logo, honestly not sure if I will, I kinda dig them solid.

Spent the money on a good 3 Ton jack and avoid this issue. Mine jacks up to well over 19in. Plenty of height to get that ass in the air, yet still small enough to go under the car.

Is your hat blue, or is that just a weird lighting?

maybe its blue painters tape? it looks like lighting. it kinda doesn't look even paint on the rotor. but then again who am i to judge, im too lazy to paint my own calipers and rotors.

oh btw, not to jack op thread, does anyone paint the outside part of the rotor, like if you looking at the rotor on the car. the outer edge of the rotor and the inside part. i seen alot of lexus aftermarket rotors come prepainted black there and where it shows blue in the above picture

Centric brand rotors for our cars are. It's an anti-rust/corrosion paint the apply to all but the friction surfaces. I have them. They look nice IMO.

It's just weird lighting, and taken with a cell phone guys. I didn't paint my rotors, although I have in the past on my MX6. The rotors are Zinc plated, so quite shiny. Pics from old MX6 below. I suppose @ 19yrs old I like the more color look, but now I don't. Just the calipers is enough for me. If the rotors eventually get crappy looking I will paint them, but black.
