Question question about leather in the RL

are the surrounding seat surfaces completely leather, or just the perforated portion? how about the armrest, and headrest. going to order some leather cleaner/conditioner and vinylex.

Not sure. Keep in mind the leather in the RL is just like most other leathers in cars unless they are exotics.

It's known as "protected leather" and has a fine, thin coating of some plastic like material which serves to keep the leather juices inside the leather.

Using a leather conditioner is rather pointless as it can not get past this protective layer and into the leather.

The armrest is definitely not leather. Can't speak to the other parts you asked about.

That armrest is "pleather" for sure.

Not sure I agree that conditioning is pointless. I regularly have treated the seats of several of my past cars. Each one owned 5-8 years with close to 100K miles and I've never had the leather on a seat crack. On the other hand I've seen many cars with severe cracking and tearing. The conditioner may not get completely through to the leather, but it may keep that barrier protecting the leather conditioned.
