Proximity sensor
Proximity sensor
Afternoon,
Yes this is a door handle question, yes I used the search tool and google.
I have not read a response or inquiry specific to my situation - I am sure it is the handle but maybe some feedback would be beneficial.
So both my fob's (1&2) buttons work flawlessly and do what they are asked to do when the button is pushed, however, the "proximity" does not do anything (proximity meaning hand on the door handle to unlock or the little bump to lock)
I do have the infamous "Check keyless Access System" indicator. This started about 4 days ago.
Sorry if many have replied to a thread like this.
thank you in advance,
Graeme

Your battery is dying. Go get a new one. We can finish debugging after that is fixed if your issue doesn't resolve.

007 - you are a very helpful individual, I appreciate your input sir!
I know the battery is around 1 year old - Is it beneficial to have it tested before purchasing new?
The AFS light stays on for 2 weeks, goes off for 1 day, back on for a week, off for a few hours etc.

A battery test will likely not help anything. In fact, many times, the test yeilds a "passing" result when the battery is still causing electronics issues, and this just adds confusion. The ability to start the RL and the ability to start the RL with sufficient charge to power the computers are not equal.
It is possible that your AFS light is a real issue. There is a potentiometer on the rear driver strut that determines the level of your driving surface via a spring. This spring corrodes and the potentiometer fails causing the AFS light. MattW fixed this issue with two resistors here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/fixing-your-afs-active-front-lighting-system-error-%240-02-save-yourself-%24200-870717/ ***WARNING: Post 14 is probably NSFW***
However, when multiple electronics start to fail, it usually has something to do with the battery. One way to check this (not fail-proof) is to disconnect both battery cables, hold the terminals together for a minute, and reconnect everything. (Make sure you have radio and nav codes first.) This will discharge everything in the car and effectively reset all of your electronics.

That is certainly strange behavior. Have you tried the battery reset? If that does not fix your issue, I would have to assume the Keyless Access Control Unit has an issue and you best bet is a dealer with an HDS.
