Propeller shaft

Just curious if anyone has bothered to replace thier propeller shaft out of pocket or just have learned to live with the cold morning whining till it goes away noise? I experience it only below 32 degree temp otherwise no whine. My car gas only 60,000k on it. I imagine it will just get worse. I just can’t understand why Acura has kept the price so high on this part knowing it fails because of the bearing they use. I can’t see myself buying this very expensive part unless not replacing it can cause an accident.

My local Acura/Honda shop offered to have the bearing replaced by a driveshaft shop they partnered with, and if that didn't work I could have the driveshaft replaced and they would not charge me for the bearing replacement... well, after they replaced the bearing, the drive shaft started to whine again after a month. I didn't want to shell out for the drive shaft replacement so I ate the cost of the bearing replacement. It doesn't get worse really, after it warms up its fine, and the whine is gone. Its only during the winter I have the issue.

I just find it annoying till it goes away. Doesn’t last long at all. As long as it doesn’t cause any issues to other mating parts and causes no accidents then I guess I’ll deal with it like everyone else. Just sucks that they don’t at least offer a bigger discount, say about half price for it? Sometimes Acura just blows.

I agree, I thought about buying a used shaft, but its impossible to know if it already has, or will eventually suffer, the same issue. I have a 2005 w/ 190K miles, I'm trying to ride this out a few years, fixing as much as I can myself, until I can get myself an electric car.
