Proactive Battery Replacement @ 5 years?
Wondering how many have changed their battery ... my car is turning five and pondering simply doing a proactive battery replacement.
Anyone got a life span on the factory battery?
Thoughts on just saying "hey, five years, that's about fair for a battery, just put a new one in there"
Car has mostly lived in places with non-extreme weather. Not to say it's always been kept at 72F but we are talking VA/NC weather here - no Vegas summers or Minnesota winters.

mine did not make it past 4 years. Telltale sign of the battery going is that your steering wheel will not telescope out during start

Copy that. I'm on my 3rd battery.
The factory one lasted around 4 years, ran out of juice and got it replaced. Had the 2nd one replaced a year later (early this year) due to it being defective and cannot hold charge. So currently on my 3rd.

I replace batteries at 30 to 36 months. Yes, they are still in good shape, but I see it as cheap ticket to peace of mind as I have had several batteries suddenly go bad over my 42 years behind the wheel. Shock and vibration causing cell connection failure has been the predominate cause of my battery failures. In the last fifteen years excessive under the hood heat conditions have also led to shortened battery life.
A battery is cheap compared to being stuck in an airport parking lot in the rain at 1:30 AM leading to a frigging heart attack. Heart attacks are expensive and the muscle damage is irreversible. That's my reasoning and I am sticking to it.

Interesting comments.
I got car at 36 months, perhaps I should look to see if it has been replaced in the past ... wonder if Acura marks batteries. Sure looks OEM though.

Batteries at Acura have a great warranty, if only 3 years old might only cost you 50%. Recommend having done at a shop or dealer since they hook the car up to a temporary battery while they swap out the bad one. That way all presets, etc are saved.

My moms just crapped out yesterday morning. Autozone only had batteries that had service points on top rendering them useless with the huge nonsense on the positive terminal... So Optima Redtop is in now. Hope that lasts as long as my last Optima lasted
