![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I would like to gauge some interest regarding who would be interested in adding any future performance modifications to their 05' RL.
Things like exhaust, chips, headers, sway bars...ect. Possibly even a supercharger.
I will be watching ComptechUSA to see if they have anything in the works for those of us who this appeals to.
Thanks Guys!

If they produced a supercharger for the 2001 Acura CL Type S that was plaqued with a bad transmission from the get go, why would they not start R&D with the new RL ?

The Legend | RL lineup has been notoriously undersupported in the aftermarket. We second gen owners literally had to have many parts built from scratch and offered in small GB's....much like the early CL'ers. The main problem will be convincing folks that there are enough RL owners interesting in aftermarket performance. In the case of the G2 Legends, it wasnt until the price had fallen considerably and "younger" drivers were owning them that the demad finally arose.

Unfortunately, I don't see there ever being any real performance mods for the RL. The demographic it appeals to isn't exactly the most keen on performance parts. The old RL still doesn't have any performance parts for it, and it is quite cheap now.
I hope for your guys sake I'm wrong though.

How about a chip?
Has anyone seen or know of a performance chip? A plug and play assembly would be nice. Maybe I am just dreaming, but I would love to squeez as much HP out of the my RL.
My search continues....

They may not have stock of Legend parts until mid May.
Also, Tire Rack is expecting to recieve an 05 RL in the next two weeks. They should have a list of wheels / tires and suspenion by mid March.
Lastly, I've ordered two pairs of BBS LM wheels in 19x9 and 19x8.5 in varying offsets to try and guess at what works. I'll post to the board my findings.

I DO know that certain plug & play chips' can be used on a multitude of vehicles. So, if anyone hears anything before I do, please let me know.

A chip would not be unheard of, there is one for the Legends and obviously the Unichip for the CL\TL. The only issue I would see is that most of the gains are earned by advancing timing. With a high compression motor like this I see very little more that could be squeezed out of the powerplant. But you never know, the J-series may hold a little more untapped potential. You have to figure that Acura relased the RL with a little headroom to go up in horsepower, the question is will we see it in the form of tweaking or increased displacement in a couple model years.

It's a real shame that after enjoying the "look" from the BMW's and Mercedes drivers at the stop lights, only to have them clean your cookies and change lanes infront of you afterwards, that there's no alternatives to the Honda effort to produce 300 HP and nothing else. Where's the aftermarket power upgrades?

I asked the same question in this thread.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=928
Here are some useful links there (And how come "I" got one reply in 2 days, and you got 19 in 2 hours?) Do we need to earn "brownie" points before we're "in" the club?
Not mad, just bemused.
Anyhoo...
comtech charge approx $4k for the accord s/c pre-fab kit. And that's because they have demand of 30 units a week.
To make 5 RL s/c kits a year, pure speculation, says s/c would be around the 5-7k mark? That's before the ecu remap and tune.
You're already in V8 bmw territory now - price/performance wise. Catch my drift?
