PCV valve is leaking...picture and question

I recently replaced my PCV valve with an OEM part. I posted a thread about my install because the valve broke inside my vlave cover and it took my 4 hours to get all the pieces out. Now after a few hundred miles I just happened to remove the engine plastic due to burning oil smell. Sure enough it looks pretty clear that the oil leak seems to be coming from my new PCV valve. I removed the new valve and it was in fact seated very well. I reinstalled and took a pic so u could see my particular set up. Does this offset look exactly like yours.....the offset that is the reason for the spacer. See pic.......... I checked my oil level and it appears to be a little over filled but not by much.....its alsways hard to get a good reading on this style dipstick.

So please view my pic and please tell me if your birds eye view of your PCV valve looks exactly like my 06 RLs does.

Thanks

Thanks a million. That is exactly what I was looking for. Yours looks identical to mine and especially in the gap area. Looks like you were lucky and skilled enough to get your old PCV out without breaking it. As I mentioned before, I think someone previously broke mine and just stopped what they were doing and punted. Looks like you were also changing your plugs. How many miles on your car?

My car has 160k miles. This is my second time replacing the pcv valve. The first time at 130k or so and it also broke. Knowing this, now I want to replace it every 50k miles or so.

I used the Standard Motor Products V384 PCV Valve. Make sure yours have an oring on it.

I recently replaced it on both my RL and MDX.
MDX was more difficult but both came out without any issues ( RL > 100K, MDX ~80K)
I replaced both with Honda parts, not taking any risks.

So I used OEM parts on mine but after replacing the PCV it caused the valve cover and the oil pump seal to leak even worse then they were before........so my 20.00 pcv valve became a $2000 engine reseal job.........got my ass kicked on this one

Just curious, Is the rear main seal included along with the valve cover gaskets and oil pump leak repair?

Well for some reason my particular car is a leaker. I believe it was due to a broken PCV valve not venting correctly. To answer your question both valve covers were leaking....the oil pump seal was leaking badly........the oil pan wasnt bad but was removed and resealed along with the rubber seals that go on the pick up tube etc.......apparently this all comes as a kit.....there are also cam seals...oil filter base seal...and others. To answer your question the mechanic said the oil all worked its way over to the rear main but from what he could tell the rear main was not leaking. Only time will tell on that......for now its nice to see the bottom of the car clean and dry.
