2000 Acura CL type S valve covers

I was changing the valve cover gasket and when I pulled them off the front one was clean and had oil in it but the back one was black and like it was burnt but had a little bit of oil. Any suggestions why it's like that?

i think you mean 2001-2003 valve covers, but regardless the rear tends to get less air flow (higher heat) and the inside of the rear valve cover usually looks dark. Mine were the same way when I did my valve adjustment. It's like some of the oil gets baked on.

It's normal to find it that way, but a bad case can also be an indication of a clogged PCV valve.
