PAX info

Just a quick note on a PAX expirience. My RL developed a slow leak in one of the rear tires. I removed it and sure enough there war a small metal object buried into the tread area. Called my local honda dealer, brought the car in, and had the tire fixed the same day(usual inside patch). Cost 68 dollars including the so called gel pack for PAX which had been damaged by the metal object.

The road hazard coverage didn't cover it 100%?

Ditto...seems like it ought to! That sure sounds like a road hazard to me...
Nice that they had it fixed the same day though.

I would check out that two year road hazard, which also covers the polymer insert unique to PAX. You may be able to get a reimbursement from Michelin if you are within the 2 years 50% rule.

Thanks for the info but I believe road hazard concerns replacement, not repair ???

Interesting point. Call Michelin to find out at 877 PAX TIRE. You are correct that the warranty talks about replacement rather than repair, but 68 has to be cheaper than a whole new tire plus demount, mount and balance charges from a retailer or complete replacement assembly from a dealer.

Let us know. It would be an interesting loophole in the two year road hazard warranty.

I had a serious issue with the tire, and it cost me nothing.

Wow. $68! I don't have PAX tires, but Discount Tire will fix mine for free.

(For that matter, I carry a plugging kit and fix my own.) I guess I'm not ready for run-flats.

yeah road hazard should cover for 2 years

Road hazard covers the tire for 2 years. I had a nail and my tire/rim were completely replace free of charge. You can see the pax warranty at http://www.michelin.com ; Michelin covers the damage unless you had it > 2 years or were < 50% tread life left. You can probably get michelin to reimburse you.

I guess the interesting point is that the actual fine print says that they will replace, but they never said anything about repair in the language, although you would think that is included. Repair, even with demount/mounting services to be a lot cheaper than replacement.

Although I still think Michelin will reimburse with a call to the PAX line.
