Noise in first gear
Noise in first gear
Hi, I just bought a 2006 RL that was supposed to have all TSBs applied before delivery. When starting out in first gear, and without the awesome sound system on, I hear a very slight vibration sound (not very loud) from the front right engine compartment. The sound comes as soon as the gas is applied and goes away within one second. I do not hear it in any other gear.
Has anyone noticed a similar noise? Is there a TSB that applies here?
By the way, it appears that 06s can be purchased for a discount. I took delivery of my RL four days ago (all 05s were gone in my area). My VIN number ends in ..00091. With a rear backup camera, rear deck spoiler, wood shift knob, and floor mats, I paid $48,300 by working the dealer against some other ones (not in my area - the internet is great!). It probably helped that on the day I showed up, the dealer received their first shipment of eight 06 RLs. So, it appears that even the 06s can be purchased at a discount. This was great for me, since I was only able to negotiate a few dollars off of my 2004 MDX from the same dealer two years ago.
I have to say that the rear camera, now available as a dealer-installed option, washes out in sunlight way more than in my MDX. It must have something to do with the sloping rear end of the RL and the position of the camera.

Congrats on the new car. Since nobody has yet answered your thread, this is really a bump to attract more viewers. I havn't had this problem. Perhaps go try another RL and see if it does the same thing, if it does not, go to the service department to have it checked out.
