No more RL

After 5 years and only 33000 miles my 2005 RL is gone. I just sold it today. Now what ???? Looking for coupe and AWD is big plus. I am thinking of 2011 G37x coupe. What You RL owners think?

I love it RL, but after 5 years is time for new car. As for my price range, I don't want to spend more then 50K.

Like I said, coupe with AWD. S5 or 335ix with few options are very close to 60K. I have price for G37x with navi and premium package. List price 45975$ and I can have for 40K. ??????

Well, it's a fine car. Unsaid in all this is, what do you want?

Have you driven it? Does it meet all your wants?

You mention the price, so apparently money is relevant. But what's your priority? Speed? Styling? Handling finesse? Status nameplate?

It's your money and your butt in the seat for the next few years. What should matter to you is what will satisfy you most, not what people like us say on a message board.

You never said if you want to buy new or if you would consider CPO....

honestly, buying a new car is a bad financial move. Find a car you like that you can get 2-3 years old, certified. You'll save 40% off retail, the car is still like new, and you can get way more for your money.

A new car like the G37 is what...around 40k.... Used CPO you could get into a nice used 335i coupe ... Much nicer than the Infiniti.

If you could up your price point to the 45-50k range you could easily score a CPO M3 coupe. Not AWD, but wicked cool.

If you want to stay with Acura, get the new TL

AWD is great but if you were to get a true sports car you don't need it. Do you need back seats? Why not grab a cayman or boxster CPO. Porsche sales are in the toilet and you could get a smokin deal on a CPO Porsche. A base model cayman or boxster would be 100x more fun than ANY Infiniti.....or Acura...

If you have the dough and don't need four doors and don't need back seats, screw it, get a two seaters. Live a little!

Good luck with the new car!!

It sounds to me like you already had your mind made up before you even posted here to ask "yes or no".

Why waste our time asking if you already were going to buy it....

For what you paid for a brand new Infiniti, you could have had something WAY better, faster, nicer...if you had listened to me and bought CPO..... Sorry..

Colour- Slate Blue. I ask for opinions, but I was specific. New, coupe and AWD. Audi S5 or BMW 335ix are way more $ the G37x and I don't want to spend 60K for the car.BTW 3 months ago I get new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for my wife.

What part of used CPO don't you get? You don't have to pay 60k for a 60k car... You let some other sucker do it, then you buy it used when they run out and buy another new car.

Buying new is fun, I've done it, but anyone who knows anything about the car biz knows you get the most for your money by buying 2-3 year old cars. Take your time and you can find a pristine example, and you save tons.

Cars depreciate massively in the first 2-3 years.... Look what you paid for your RL new and look what you sold it for. You only had 33k miles on it. Was it trashed? Probably not..it was probably great, and someone else it going to snatch it up for about what you sold it for, and if they drive it three years and sell it, they will pay a fraction of what you did, for essentially the identical driving experience.

I just went on cars.com and looked up CPO 335i.... There are tons of them in the high 30s and low 40s. Cars with 10k miles on them, and 100k mile warranties. lots of guys out there are going to buy one, and be driving around in a "60,000 car" but they will have paid less than you....

Its your money.... Spend it how you want. I'm sure the G is nice, I just think you could have done better.

Come down big guy. I paid 42K for my RL 5 years ago and sold it for 23K, so I lost 19K in 5 years. I don't think this is to bad. Now CPO cars. 335, I don't like them to much and even if thye are CPO You still have to go to the dealer with every problem and I think You gonna have more problems with CPO 335 then brand new G37. S5, I have very hard time to find CPO S5 with 10K miles for 30K-40K. "Its your money.... Spend it how you want" You are correct SIR.Thank You.

slawek65, I know "New" was a requirement for your purchase, but I have to agree with 23109VC that CPO is the way to go. I got my 07 RL with <30K mi for ~50% off MSRP. Owned by a lawyer who took amazing care of it and kept it in near MINT condition.

I am not trying to antagonize you further, but I would like to know what you have against CPOs? You just mentioned that you would have to take it to the dealer for all problems, but wouldn't you have to for a new car also? You also say that it will have more problems than a new car. I wouldn't expect any major problems with any Japanese car within the first 100k mi. I think you could get the same 30k mi out of a CPO with as many miles that you could with a new car and have the same amount of problems, IMHO. You also wouldn't have to go through the "break-in period". But that's my opinion; what do YOU have against CPOs?

I don't have nothing against CPO cars. I was looking for coupe with AWD, and I don't have to many options. S5, 335, G37. Price was the factor to. I don't like 335 to much, S5 is close to 60K and even CPO is 50K so I get G37.CPO or new car have to go to dealer with any problem. What I want to say is, 335 gonna have more problems then G37. I have to make decision, new G37 or CPO S5 or 335.I get brand new 2011 G37X for the price of CPO 335 or S5.

it could be a pride thing. some ppl are proud to be able to say that I bought a car brand new. and i think everyone should try to have the "brand new" experience at least once in their lifetime. the smell of a brand new car is priceless! and im super anal about cosmetic damages like dings and scratches, I'm not sure if all CPO cars are free from stuff like that. and u realli have no right to complain to a dealer cuz they have a comeback that goes something like, "Well, you do realize your buying a USED car, right?" Why do u think the sales for the Hyundai Sonota is so high? b/c for the price of a used ________(whatever car u were looking at ie honda accord) u can get a brand new sonata. and if u buy CPO u are never gonna be up to date since u are buying cars that are 2-3 years old. They juss re designed the 3 series and audi's, so im pretty sure ur talking about the old generation CPO models.

and be happy he is buying brand new, without him there would be no CPO's for u to buy. it takes two to tango you kno. :-)

I don't know if this is pride thing. If I have to pick NEW, or 2 years old CPO car my decision is easy. New car for me. At least I am gonna be first to fart in my car

and that summed it up.

I personally hate the new car smell.

Bought a used car with 3500mi on it and didn't feel like I was behind the times. Saving 15k didn't hurt either.

o yea, ur car is up to date. its got the power plenum so that implies the latest generation in the Acura Line and i like ur car! better than the 2011 changes IMO (in terms of rims and grill)

and as i understand u didnt buy CPO cuz u didnt go through Acura right? u bought it via private seller , which is a whole different ball of wax. so u bought used, but ur not behind cuz its a good used if that makes any cents. i checked all the Acura dealers in IL and there are no CPO 2.5 RL's around. They have em at carmax but thats not CPO.

i have no problem with CPO except that there are no CPO 2.5 gen RL's around me and i need one in my area cuz i need to do the test drive. maybe its cuz of the limited production? so i guess sometimes ur forced to buy brand new car.

I have a 2005 RL, which I love. I drove a 2012 TL back on March 12th and loved it. You should get a 2012 TL SH-AWD and not open the back doors. That way it will be like a coupe : )

not real sure why I'm hearing the words CPO a lot.

I went ahead and bought my self a 4 year/120k extension for under 2 grand. Get whatever used under warranty car you want and buy an extension, AcuraCare in my case. Problem solved.

Wow! I like how this turned into a used vs. new thread! Personally, I like used cars. I owned a new car when I was 19 and it was the exact model and options that I wanted. I put roughly $35k into it with upgrades, interest, and the purchase price. I sold it after 8 years for $5500! I decided to not buy new again, unless I really don't care about the money or have to have the features it offers. I am not directing this at the OP, but ichi D's comment about driving a used car "like you've always owned it" points to the need to buy new for status. I could give a shit less about how long people think I've driven my RL or the MDX. The bottom line is that I love both of them.

To the OP, congrats on the new ride!

I didn't really mean to hijack this thread.... I did put thought into the OP's initial post/question, and really do feel used is a better value than new, but there is no denying it's fun to buy a new car.

No worries slawek65! Enjoy your car...

I just fantasize and live vicariously when I see a post that someone is about to go drop 40k on a two door coupe! All the hot cars in that price point were swirling in my head...

it IS your money and if you like the car you bought, that is really all that matters. Sorry to bust your chops...

Post some pics of your new car if you get the chance.

i think what it comes down to is people talking about other brand cars on this Acura forum. If your not going to buy another honda product then keep it to your self. I'm sure you would be better off on the Nissan forum and you will get the info you are looking for. That what i do with my other cars. Good luck with new car!

g37x

as you said for the money you want to spend ......that is the closest to having crazy bells and whislte's and hella speed and still be able to have some money in your pocket.........you are on the right track ..........i would say 6 series bmw but that doesnt come in all wheel drive.............plus the g37x coupe comes with> 330 HP< .........now go look at the competition with all wheel drive /330HP/fully loaded and see what they want .....way way WAY ^there in PRICE ..........

It really is a matter of personal preference, some people may just want to have the piece of mind that they maintained the car from the start.....others make the economical decison and just go CPO, there is no right or wrong answer to whether someone should be new or pre owned, the only fact is you save $... I dunno who's hatin on the G cause the car is sick especially the double wishbone suspension, that shit probably rides so nice
