No info on 2012 RL?!

It's close to August now and no rumors on a 2012 RL...is the plan to have the new model out in March like they were saying? We have seen no teaser pictures, no articles....talk about ho-hum

Does anyone have any info they can pass along? Are we even getting a new RL? It's bee so quiet I feel like I have to question if a new model is coming

Im taking a wild guess, but i think this car will get debut sometime next year at the chicago auto show? and it will come out late in the year as a 2013 model.

Agreed as above stated. The 2004 TSX - new model - debuted in May 2003.

Everything coming out of Japan has been delayed due to the damage at the Acura factory. This damaged was caused by the recent earthquake disaster.

Wow, it looks like we'll have to wait another year, eh? I am still really surprised there have been no pictures of the car, even in camo. I suspect maybe no one cares

Honda/Acura are famous for keeping new cars close to the vest until close to release. They release information about interim model changes on or near September 1st, and new models/mid-model major changes in the winter. Since we haven't heard anything official from Acura, we should assume that there is no new RL model for the 2012 MY and that we should only expect incremental minor changes. We will hear about those minor changes in September. It is possible that the earthquake in Japan changed the timeline but I doubt it's changed by much.

We would also heard by now about whether the model has been canned. In fact, we have had official word for months that the model is continuing on.

I would venture that Acura is so clueless about design and what its nitch is, that it will let the RL fade into oblivion. They have a new Rl with more power, better handling, better electronics and nav, that has the same room inside and costs less..... A 2012 TL SH-AWD Advance. There is a size, power and option difference between a BMW 3, 5, and 7, between a Infiniti G and m, between a C, E and S class etc. The TL and RL are virtually identical with subtle suspension and interior fit finish differences that do not justify the cost difference. Acura has not shown any support or ads for the RL in several years. Dealers do not stock them, Acura does not even mention them on there own Acuranews monthly sales. It truly is sad.

It is indeed very sad. The RL is a great car, and my local Acura dealer provides top-notch service, so I'd love to be able to continue my relationship with Acura. The local BMW dealer can't even fix my car properly and charges $150/hr for labor

Looks like 2012 will be another year for the ho-hum RL. I am really bummed, Acura needed a new model a year ago! This better be good...

Not sure how accurate this is but:

Acura RL
2012 Acura RL: Although plans for a rear-wheel-drive V8 model have been shelved, Acura is still planning to overhaul its flagship model in 2011. Given that the current TL already offers all the power, performance and size of the RL, look for Acura to take a few additional steps to differentiate its flagship sedan. One particular area where the RL could take the lead is hybrid power. Acura officials have gone on record saying that the brand will introduce more than one hybrid vehicle into its lineup and the RL could use such technology to give it additional horsepower without sacrificing fuel economy.

Not yet according to these guys.. I was thinking 2013 pre-earthquake but would not be totally shocked (just a little disappointed) if it got pushed back to 2014 as a result..

I am getting really tired of waiting. Have the '05 with 136K miles and want something new.
Not much out there that gets my attention and was hoping to see a new RL sooner.

Have enjoyed your posts and your enthusiasm, but I'm really looking for something new as opposed to used.
How is your Genesis holding up?

Genesis holding up good, almost crying at posts that other people bought a 5.0 V8 at the same price as I paid for 3.8.

There are pro's and cons for both but I definitely don't feel like it was a downgrade.

I may have to look at one
Unfortunately, both my wife's car and my RL are aged and past their prime

there are good cars out there, and if you do decide to go the Genesis route let me know, might give you a few pointers on getting an excellent deal (read 40k for 5.0 top of the line fully loaded).

I hate to get off topic, but did anyone see the 2013 GS? The outside isn't bad, but the inside/interior looks very BMW/Mercedes like with no curves or 'flow' at all. I'm not impressed, I think the '12 interior looks better.
