Took my younger son to the Acura Dealer to pick up my Legend that was in for repair. He is not a car guy. I showed him a new 2009 RL and asked him what he thought of it, expecting the same reaction from my older son who hated the nose, thought Acura ruined a perfectly good car.

The younger one says, Wow, I like that nose. It is really aggressive looking, but I don't really like the rear end. It looks like it is saying fill me up with luggage.

Maybe Acura is going after the younger, impressionable audience!

 

Im not going to lie, I was at an NSX meet earlier today at South Coast Acura, and they had an 09 silver (dark silver) and I must say the nose has really grown on me alot. It does look more aggressive than the previous style. There was an 07 next to it, and it made the 07 look 'friendly' (but I like friendly)

One thing the new 09's don't execute in styling like the 05-08's does is the similarities/relation of the head and tail lights. I'm pretty sure you guys know what I'm talking about.

 

IMHO, the dreaded grill is not the main issue. The problem is its location.

I think if the grill is lowered a bit to flush with the headlights, it would look a lot better.

the mdx looks good with its power plenum. It works...the RL doesn't...don't take my word for it, wait til we start getting sales numbers.

 

I second the motion that the '05-08 looks "Friendly" ! Why should a car be designed to look like its angry and possibly could attack you in a dark garage somewhere (chuckling)...
