New Touch Door Lock Issue

New Touch Door Lock Issue
Unrelated to the random door locking after the 4-part update (which I have experienced as well), I have experienced a door lock problem not described on this forum until now.
A normal feature of the 2005 RL is for the doors to lock when you exit the car with the remote in your possession, then touch the raised bump on the outside driver's or passenger's car door. You can then test the door locks by trying to open the door immediately (within 2 seconds) and then leaving it alone when you find that it is indeed locked.
The manual does tell you not to get too close with the remote, but to keep it a couple of feet away from the door when you do this.
This feature fails on my car after every drive through a spray-type car wash, and it fails for up to 48 hours on both front doors. The car wash can be with or without an undercarriage spray. Each door seems to recover at a different time, but within one day of the other door.
A moderate rain does not seem to have the same effect. There has not been enough heavy rain to test my door lock operation. I have sent a letter to ACURA CS describing this problem.
Has anyone else had this experience? It happened both before and after my 4-part service update.
Thanks!

My doors lock and unlock themselves regularly while I'm rinsing the vehicle during a wash and still have the fob in my pocket. So I'm sure this may be related to what you are seeing. My car never functioned the way you are saying it should. It always unlocked the car immediately if I tested the drivers handle right after locking it with the knob. I always listened attentively for the beep and then tested the rear door.

I noticed the same issue with the dimple locking/unlocking yesterday while washing the car for the first time. I haven't figured out how to resolve the locking/unlocking continously with the fob in my pocket. If anyone comes up with a solution keep me posted.

A simple/obvious solution.

The problem is notorious and, as mentioned earlier, has been discussed in other threads (and other forums). The problem occurs afte going thru a high pressure car wash. It does not seem to occur when washing by hand or at a do-it-yourself car wash, in which you use a wand to wash/rinse the car. Just the high pressure drive thru car washes. The fix has been to replace the door handles since, pressumably, the replacement handles do not suffer this problem.
I had the same problem and fixed it when the dealer, after spending a day talking to Acura tech line, was told to replace the handles. I've not had the problem since.
