New RL owner

Just wanted to say Hello. I recently bought a 06 RL, Lakeshore Silver, this past Saturday.
After driving around town for a few days i have to say that i really love this car. Coming from a 05 GTO to the RL was a huge change, while i miss the power of the GTO the refinement and quietness of the RL is welcomed change.

Nice pickup. LSM FTW! Nice shifter too. Those are becoming hard to come by.

The shifters are? I guess I should consider myself lucky since I managed to get the steering wheel and shifter when the pictures appeared to not have them.

Congrats..I just got an '05 on Monday. How many miles are on yours?

The shifters are out of stock on oemacuraparts.com and acuraoemparts.com. eBay should have them. It is just that when those sites went out of stock, I figured they stopped producing them so there is a limited quantity out there.

Thanks guys. I got it with just under 42,000 miles on it. I'm debating on whether to get the backup camera package or a wood steering wheel installed next week.
So far i think i'm going to just go with the steering wheel.

Congratulations! The '06 Lakeshore Silver RL is generally considered to be the high water mark for the entire line and is certainly the best-looking one! You really do want that woodish steering wheel, btw: really, really looks and feels good to drive with.

Yeah good point. There probably isn't much supply left.

Congrats on your RL.

Personally, I'd rather have the backup camera as opposed to the wood wheel. Of course, I had both on my RL so I had the best of both worlds. With a small child who is a daddy's boy and likes to open the garage door upon my arrival, a backup camera is a necessity.

Congrats on the ride. Just wanted to chime in on Wood Wheel and/or back-up camera. I can't say I am totally impressed with the back-up camera. The resolution isn't that great and lack brightness during low light and bright situations. The Wood Wheel makes a big difference on the looks, but it does get pretty hot on those hot summer days.

Even though I have the brightness adjusted to brightest, when it is dark outside, I can't really see things too well. And when it's really bright out, maybe more when there is direct sun on the camera, it's hard to see anything. It seems to only work best when it's bright out and the sun is in front of the car.

If it is not bright outside, your backup lights should help you out. Are they functional? Maybe they should be changed to brighter bulbs. I agree that when the sun is on the back of the car, it is not ideal. However I can't think of how any camera could compensate for that.

As for the resolution, is your lens clean? I mean, I don't get 720p, but it isn't any worse that a standard definition signal. As long as you can distinguish children and empty driveways, I think it has served its purpose.

OP, the camera is a great utility, and I use it everyday. However, I really want a wood wheel. If you have driven without a camera up until now, I say get the wheel.

I would get back up sensors or Camera over the steering wheel, the Camera is great when parallel parking, but sometimes the glare of the Camera makes it useless, so sometimes I'd think it would be nice to have the backup sensors instead.
