new RL owner

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum. I just traded cars with my mom. I'd always wanted an M3, because I'd only owned BMW's and thought the RL was a little mature for my age. But it's growing on me! I've been really inspired by Touge [https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498194]. I think my first mod will be rims. I really like Touge's rims, but I'm not sure how it will look on a black RL. Any advice? Oh, and I prefer 19". Thanks!

Really quick snapshot I took at school today.

Touge's rims come with hyper black and bronze those definitely look good on black cars. Good luck.

You switched an M3 for an RL? At least you're getting a nice car with a few potential mods.

For 19's, AME Tracer FS-01's come in Hyper Silver or Sapphire Black. See the fitment guide
http://www.ame-wheels.com/applicationguide/sheet001.htm

I think either finish would look fine with a NBP car. The chrome strips on the car work well with silver wheels. You will also have to buy separate centering rings for about $60. You wonder if these are them:
http://www.ame-wheels.com/accessories.html

I have included the text of an email I received from an AME dealer for your use.

Thank you for your inquiry. According to AME that wheel will fit the Acura RL 06. Yes, the wheels are over bored and use Hub Centric Rings to center the wheels. The Hub Centric rings are sold separately. AME has a unique center bore. We have to have them custom made for each vehicle. The hub rings will be $60.00/set. We will provide chrome lug nuts. If you would like locking lugs, they will be additional. I will have to confirm the compatibility of the Acura TPMS. If you have any further questions or would like to order these parts please call us at 818.998.6005 M-F 10-6pm PST.

Thank you,
Glenn K.

Hey guys, sorry if I wasn't clear about that. I used to have a 2003 330Ci, and then I drove a 2004 760Li for a while, but I still wanted an M3. I never got the M3 but got the RL. The change felt weird at first, but I've fallen in love with the RL, especially the SH-AWD!

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm leaning towards the AME's now.

Chas2, thansk for the link. I think I will go with the 19' Hyper Silver. Actually, from the chart you provided, it looks like Hyper Silver is the only option for 19' on Japanese cars. I found a thread http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=397966 with the FS-01's on different rides. You were right, the silver looks good on black.

037, my mom is driving the 760Li now, haha. The car wouldn't fit in the tiny parking spaces at school. The power on that thing is amazing!

I just got some additional info from the dealer

Thank you for your inquiry. AME does not provide the lugs, but we can throw them in for you. Yes, the Hub rings are $60.00/set. That size is only available in Black. The 19x8.5 wheels weigh ~23lbs each. The 18x8.0 wheels weigh ~ 20lbs each. Yes, there are many wheels that will clear the calipers. Which wheels were you interested in?

Thank you,

Glenn K.

You ought to check with the owner on the specs,, and then with 5zigen, but I believe the Altima uses 5x114 bolt circle, so it would not fit correctly. I do not know about the possibility of drilling. You MAY have to demount the tires for installation of TPMS. This car may have TPMS, but I am not sure if it is compatible with the Acura/Honda system. But the big issue is bolt circle. Oh, and I do not know if the Nissan has a smaller lug, and whether that makes a difference, typically 12x1.25
