New to the RL family!

Hi all,

I just bought my 2005 RL last week from a fellow Aziner! He is really nice guy who kept immaculate care of his car. It has 94k miles and I paid $16k for it. I recently sold my '03 CLS-6 because we are having a second baby soon and I needed more space. I miss the zippy feel of the CL but the RL is by far the nicest car I have ever driven! I look forward to many more years of Acura ownership!

These are the pics that were posted on the ad (my camera is acting funny right now).

The car looks great. I have a 07 with 133,000 trouble free enjoyable miles. I am partial to the white with parchment or my silver with the light gray interiors. Checkout zainostore.com for their leather conditioner z-10 , tire gloss z-16, grand finale spray seal z-8 and car wax z-2. Tried them all and zaino products in my opinion are the best. At 105,000 miles the timing belt , water pump, and plugs will need replacing. Once that is done you will be set for another 105,000 enjoyable miles.

ENJOY!!! and what a purchase for $16,000.

I love Zaino and have used it for years!! It really stands out against other premium products! As for the color I waited a while for this particular combination. The funny thing (well not really funny for my wallet) is that I just did the 105k service on my CL last year and I will probably be doing it on the RL sometime in the next year. Oh well, still worth it!

Thanks to both of you! The previous owner was a really nice guy and kept amazing records of everything he did. I did not want a car with that many miles but the fact that everything he did was documented made me completely confident in my decision.

That's a great-looking car you bought there -- congratulations! Now, swap in the "wood" steering wheel and it will be better than new!

I am driving an '09 TL this week, while my dealer has our RL (damage, not maintenance) and although I appreciate the extra zip, I am sure missing the ride, handling and amenities of our old jalopy. The cool thing is, when I get her back, I'll have some of that fresh appreciation for it, like you're getting with your new addition.

Nice! I love those A-Spec wheels. It looks lowered--does it have the A-Spec suspension too?

You'll be able to get both car seats in the rear easily, as well. My RL carried my little guy from when he was four months old until he was almost three and we changed baby seats twice during that time.

And to the AZ'er who sold you the car, kudos on keeping it up.

Yeah, I can imagine missing this ride! I saw a few posts about the wood steering wheel, but I'll have to wait and see. I tried looking for it on acuraoemparts.com but couldn't find it.

No A-Spec suspension, it has the stock setup. As for the car seat, we have as much room for that in my car as we do in our MDX! I'm thrilled with this purchase! And I echo your sentiments about the seller! I would say his name but I don't know if he would be alright with that.

Nice, I had mine for a year now. 80k and drives great with no problem. Just make sure you keep up with the maintenance though (especially transmission fluid).

And if that little bit of wrinkling on the armrest upholstery bothers you, Heavy_RL posted a terrific thread with a fix; I expect to eventually use it myself.

Congrats!

I too had a 2003 CL-S 6 speed Navi. Bought it new and sold it at 4 years and 183k miles later...........I miss the 6 speed immensely......one of the slickest short throw 6 speeds.

I purchased a 2006 RL CMBS CPO in March 2008 with just 4k miles on it and now have 125k. I love the RL and all of the features and it is a great long distance cruiser. Still looks and performs showroom new.

Enjoy!

I love this car more than any I have had!

Yeah, I love the rims. The car also came with the stockies and original tires! I can't imagine switching back, but it's great to have!

Thanks! I actually really miss the speed, the manual tranny, and the gas mileage of my CL. That said, I can't say that those things make me wish I was driving that instead of the RL!

i was going to also ask if it is lowered, it looks lower in the pics.. maybe it's just the angle.

if you ever want new suspension, you could add aspec. OEM setup, about $600 in parts.. handling will get a lot tighter.

your car looks great! the aspec wheels look great!

my recommendations - add window tint and the rear spoiler! those two add ons are not that much money and sure make the car look more aggressive / nicer!! especially on white!! great color!!

I see we have similar tastes in cars! an RL and an MDX!! enjoy!

I was gonna say the same thing. Lip spoiler & tint and be done with it. you can get oem style spoilers painted cheaper than acura at www.elitespoilers.com I purchased one for my 08 Accord coupe. Perfect match.

Just got the tint done this weekend! I was looking at the Aspec suspension... might have to wait, but I wouldn't mind tighter handling. Does it affect the ride in any other way? I also need to get the wood steering wheel... maybe Christmas

Thanks! I'm very careful about doing the services and the previous owner actually handed me a notebook with service receipts. Great guy and a great car!

I owned a CL-S 6spd back in 03. When I traded my 08 Accord for my 08 TL, I felt like i was in a car that a 31yo should be driving..lol. I bet you have this "executive" feeling that I got when I first purchased my car back in July...lol. As for your question about A-spec Suspension, it's not super firm. Think of it as more controlled ride. Take a road trip. Thats when you'll really enjoy the car...lol.
