New KYO 4500K Fog Light Bulbs and Highbeams

Finally found something close to the stock 4300K HIDs. I picked up KYO Superbeam EX Xenon White H11 (65W) and 9005/HB3 (65W) bulbs.

Pretty easy swap. The Driver's side fog bulb was the hardest. Seriously tight space.

I got them here for less than $50 shipped. -> http://www.kyoauto.com/

Some quick photos:

Those look a lot nicer than the yellowish stock bulbs-I wonder if they are as functional, since yellow is a good color for fog lights (less glare in a fogbank).

I have no clue how functional they are vs. stock.

I was strictly going for the matched look.

So, the bulb type for the foglights on our RL is 9005/HB3?

H11 = Fogs

HB3/9005 = Highbeams/DRLs

What wattage did you get?

In the daytime, can you see the blue bulbs? That's my main dislike with most 'hyper white' type bulbs is that you can see the blue bulbs reflecting off the mirror within the headlights.

Yes. The bulbs are coated blue so they look, well, blue.

So, one thing I notice now, that might be a problem.

The glass in front of the fog lamps gets very hot to the touch, after these fog lights have been on for a long time.

Can someone confirm that the glass in front of the stock fog lamp bulbs stays cool to the touch after the lights have been on for a while?

Last thing I want to do is melt something or have the glass break . . .

What were the conditions when you noticed this? Day, night, outside temp, How long were the lights on for, etc.

I'll check mine when I get her back from service today.

Can you take a picture of your lights with them off in sunlight? I want to see how much 'blue' I can see.

Cool night (60's), drove about 10 miles. Parked the car and noticed the glass in front of the fogs was dirty. Went to rub off the dust with my finger and it was very hot to the touch.

I'll try to snag a pic tonight after work.

C'mon people, go feel the glass "lens" in front of the fog lights.

Is it hot after a short 10-15min trip.

I wonder if any of the vendors here can order these at a better price. You may want to ask them if you plan on ordering the bulbs

15 minute drive, 50F, hot as hell. Almost burned my hands

As long as you don't go over the oem wattage, you should be fine.

I'll be ordering the yellow H11's shortly.. just waiting for the pics of the 9005 blue-ness to see what I should order for the DRL's.

Thanks. I feel much better now. Sorry about your hands.

The fogs are 10W over OEM, but it shouldn't be too bad.

I got home late tonight (already dark) but I will take a photo tomorrow @ work.

Already threw the camera in the bag.

One note, in the daytime the DRLs still look yellowish. I assume this is because they are not getting the full wattage. I'll take a pic of that tomorrow as well.

Hey guys,
I have some new fog light bulbs on order and when looking at the RL it appears as though it's not the easiest thing to swap. Is this true or am I missing a little trick? I just want to be ready to know how to do it before they get here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's easy, there are two plastic access panels on both sides. Remove the 10mm bolt and 2 clips, push the panel up and then you can access the foglight housing to swap the bulbs.

Is the access from underneath or do you have to open the hood (and pull the engine out).

Do the new bulbs create a "glare" situation while in DRL mode? I have heard that the brighter, whiter bulbs for the highbeams can create a lot of glare for on-coming drivers during daytime DRL use.
