I just purchased a 2005 Acura RL with 61k miles Silver with black leather.
I recently sold a 2006 GS430.

I have a few questions in regards to customization. I would like to make the following upgrades and would appreciate if someone could steer my in the right direction.

1-MUGEN Spoiler or Replica
2-Play DVD on Navigation screen
3-Ipod integration into navigation screen
4-Add a backup camera

I know these questions have been asked a ton of times but I could not get a solid answer from the forums. A lot of the back and fourth is product comparison. I never really got the feel that any one company or item is superior. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My goal is to be as close to factory as possible. I don't like flipping switches to get things to work.

Does anyone make a dvd unit that is integrated into the factory system. I would like to use the factory buttons to control the dvd function.

1. I can't answer.
2-4: Can be better answered in the electronics section. There is no perfect I pod solution but there are some that work ok. There is a way to add DVD and back up camera but I can't answer how easy that is to do.

Basically my response is useless except to check out the electronics forum.

If you don't know how to use the search function properly then please god don't change anything on your car because you will have a hell of a time figuring that out.

I can't help but wonder what was the motivation for that switch? I love the RL, but wonder why you sold a decent Lexus to buy an Acura that was a year older.

I sold the Lexus for 17k and purchased the Acura for 8500. My motivation was to use the RL for a year or so until I save up enough to purchase a 2012 BMW 535 M-tech. I can get one for about 28k. The Acura will keep its value for a year or so, this will buy me time to save money for my next car without suffering depreciation on the Acura.

On another note, I might not keep this car much longer due to the fact that there isn't a simple way to integrate an iPod and a backup camera while retaining steering wheel function. I know its an odd reason but I'm lost here. Im not getting information anywhere on the net... After about 3 hours of searching, I'm no closer to an answer then when i first started. All of the forums are repetitive and state the exact same concepts but don't touch on my question. Funny thing is there are several posters who ask the same question and never receive an answer. Either way, I give up. I've decided to keep the car the way it is and move on to the BMW sooner then later. Good Luck to everyone.

Oh yea, Nersh7. I don't appreciate your sarcasm. Im happy that you found your sanctuary. The only thing polluted is your self righteous arrogance. I have never really ventured into forums due to the fact that its inevitable to bump into cyber juggernauts who feel good when they show the world that they are an internet bully. Good for you. to play DVD's on nav screen, you will need third party hardware.
nav2go, tom's hardware, nav2dvd, etc are some of the more common hardware....

same thing with ipod/iphone/music device...
you will need third party hardware....


So, my answer to your questions still havent got you anywhere


Guess what you need to add a back up camera???
