NavTool ordering woes...

This is kind of a long story but here goes:

I ordered a NavTool from a vendor on eBay called NavTool_Outlet on April 7th. (They are NavTool's eBay store). The NavTools they sell are listed as brand new in packaging and not refurbished. They had them listed at $250 shipped. I made an offer for $200 shipped and they accepted it. I ordered a backup camera the same day and received it within 3 days but the NavTool was a whole other story.

After a week of no updates I emailed the seller asking for a tracking number. I was told that there was a delay getting the OEM harnesses from Japan and that it would be another week. They offered me a $10 refund if I wanted to wait or a full refund if I wanted to cancel my order. I said I would wait. A week and a half later it was the same story. They offered an additional $10 refund and pushed it off another week. A week and a half later and I get another $10 refund and another shipping delay. By now I'm basically thinking to myself it doesn't really matter because if they don't have the harnesses for the eBay store they also don't have them for the regular web store. If I want a NavTool I'm going to have to wait either way so I may as well keep my order with them and receive a partial refund.

So I finally received my tracking number from them today. It has not been picked up by UPS yet, it's just a confirmation of a shipment being made. Here's another weird thing...in the last couple days they changed their eBay store name to Automotive_Electronics_Store and have pulled all of their NavTool listings from eBay.

When I finally get this thing I will be getting a NavTool for $170 after my $30 worth of PayPal refunds. For those of you that have ordered and installed a NavTool, is there anything I should be watching out for? A sub-par harness? Potentially refurbished item? Anything I'm missing?

Same exact story I paid $210 on May7th. They kept pushing it off and offered me a $20 refund when I contacted them on May 27th. They never gave me any reason. Emails took 2-3 days to respond too. I ordered through their ebay webstore because I wanted the metal NavTool not the plastic one on their website which was $350.

I finally went on a rant on the 4th Gen TL forum in their thread yesterday and they tried to play it off, said sorry if I misunderstood but the $20 would be refunded when my order was shipped. Well its "shipped" now and no refund...

They also said we will be getting the "new" navtool instead of the "old" navtool. I WANTED THE OLD ONE. The new is just a cheap plastic enclosures with wires hanging off of it instead of nice pcb mounted RCA barrael jacks.

This is what we will be receiving, it better fucking work is all I can say. Or I am not even going to bother shipping it back and ill just open a Paypal dispute.

I just asked in that thread if I'll be receiving the 2.0 version as well. I don't really mind getting the newer one honestly. Plastic box vs metal box...meh. It's going to be installed behind the felt panels in the trunk and isn't going to get banged around. It's cool that it will be able to receive software updates. You may actually find that the exposed cables and smaller box make it a lot easier to install.

I'm actually in the market for this right now and sent a question to them via email and have not received a response. I don't want to order from them and might get one o the cheap clones. Actually I emailed them about the new version because it has rgb input which is much better and I would like to integrate my android tablet or a PC into the car as a multimedia hub so the RCA input is inadequate for this.

I talked to them on the phone and the one for the 05-08 RL wont be getting the Component inputs (RGB) and we will still have the same inputs (2 Composites) as shown in the picture I posted. The only difference is we will have a small on screen display to tell us what source has been selected...kinda pointless since the other source is likely a backup camera. As far as the new features go...24 bit color depth? Can composite or our screen even support it, likely not. And software upgrades? What needs to be updated?

This all sounds like a bunch of gimmicks so they can justify charging $350 dollars for something that is cheaper for them to make than the last version.

BTW if you are looking for the old version you can get it here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACURA-RL-200...ht_2144wt_1163

It is likey the same box, NavTool probably didn't even create the design just rebrands these devices

domstvandnavtogo is what I'd be getting if and when I get one of these. Dom has always been a great vendor and responds to me personally in 24 hours. Plus his unit is $179 shipped

Yeah I'll be skipping the navtool and the car pc is a moot point if I don't have RGB access to the monitor. Need sharp text. I will look into the navtogo unit. I bought some cat5e cable today to run with my USAspec cables to the center console so I can wire a switch and a subwoofer control knob in the future without taking the car apart again.

I have no idea why the hell you would want component (RGB) input. The resolution of our nav screen is 800x480 and the maximum resolution of composite (Yellow input) is 720 X 480. Component would offer NO noticeable advantage over the single composite input. Also the GA-NET+ Unit (Car PC) takes full advantage of the resolution of the cars screen and also takes advantage of the full color depth.

NavTool is really ridiculious. They send out my shippinh notification on ebay on Tuesday acting like they ahve shipped my package. Then Thursday I get a UPS shipping quantum notification saying a label has been created. Today my package still hasn't shipped! How about giving us the package number when it ships instead of deciving us.

NavTool is seriously ridiculous, they send out tracking numbers but all they really did was make a bunch of shipping labels to make it seem like they sent out your package but all they really did was try and buy themselves some more time, fucking pricks.

They need to loan a tracking number into eBay within 1 business day of the sale to get their seller discount. Doesn't mean they've shipped.

Oh, well they put the tracking number on my eBay order nearly a month after I had ordered so I doubt they will be receiving any type of discount.

Nav and TV to go is cheaper new than that. I'm considering ordering that unit right now after I learn a bit more about it.

haha, thanks for the tip.

I believe you mean "TVandNav2Go", and If you don't have a seizure navigating their site then I hope you the best of luck.

I'll stick to "you get what you pay for".... Hence the reason we are on this board.

You might want to wait for me to post my install diy, all the wires you need for power, reverse line, ground are on another sat harness instead of pulling it off the xm harness and reverse light line, mine works great!
