No one really needs it.

 

I think going from a 2009 disc to a 2014 disc will make a difference.. The current DVD is missing a lot of locations.

 

Many 07-08 TL owners have picked up the 2013 DVD for $50 (best offer) through the following auction, some reported receiving the 2014 disc.

Just like everyone else who has bought a disc from the above mentioned auction I got the 2014 V4.C0 as well

The auction says you'll get the 2013 V4.B1 but this is a pleasant surprise.
Not bad for $50 (got that price through best offer)

I would like to mention that the auction wouldnt work for people with 05 RL. As all you get is the map DVD and not the upgrade DVD. As most of you know, to run 06+ map disc on an 05 RL you need the software upgrade disc as well (to be used only one time so the nav system can upgrade the firmware).

If you were to buy the upgrade disc from Acura, for an 05, you get the map disc AND the upgrade disc.

 

I placed an offer on the auction below for $50 yesterday, just to see if the seller would bite. I got a confirmation late last night that the offer was accepted!

IMHO, probably the most useful feature in the updates is usually updated phone numbers for businesses, restaurants, etc. There are roads and freeway exits here that were newly built or changed more than 5 years ago that are STILL not showing up on the 2013 disc.

 

^ frustrating that they don't update everything older than 1 year. They shouldn't charge more than $20 for this kind of service

 

I just purchased the disc at $55 after being rejected at $45. Not sure how it all works on ebay that you didn't win the bid.
I'm hoping that going from my 2006 original disc to the 2014 might resolve some issues ..... and maybe even a few back issues

This is exactly why I prefer using a phone app instead but I'd really like to drive without having the phone mounted on the windshield or dash.

 

Exactly! I place my phone, with the app running, in the cavity where my out-of-date Acura GPS sits, with that screen turned off.

Seriously, why would anyone pay anything for a service that can be downloaded for free and is far more up-to-date than what these guys selling "updates" can provide.

Just got my update disc and am glad I bought it. For $55 it improved the road and highway construction, on and off ramps and removed the all the gas stations that were out of business in 1983. Got pretty little icons and stuff ..... we all like stuff!

 

Good to know. The navi I bought on ebay didn't come with a disc so I needed this regardless.

 

I want to document it here that I bought the disc from the same link above and it does not work. (DVD disc reading error, please consult your dealer)

Just updated to the 2014 CD. I purchased the Acura last year with original CD that didn't have my residential area. The new CD has my residential area, but it appears that the CD is at least are one year behind. There is a lot of roadwork that has been going on around here for the past 12 to 18 months and one of the new routing shows up on the new CD. There are a lot of "make a u-turn, if possible" instructions, compared to my Garmin that updates maps constantly. So I wouldn't recommend changing each year.

 

of course its at least a year behind... I would even argue 2 years.

 

Seller was nice enough to mail me another disc for free. Now I have 2 discs that wont work. It could be the dvd navi console I bought on ebay for $350 but the seller wont respond to any of my emails and every time I try to start a claim, ebay website says "we couldn't process your request because of a technical issue. Please try again." Now the listing isn't available to view anymore.
