Is my transmission slipping?
Is my transmission slipping?
Hi guys,
I've got a 66k miles Acura RL Model '08. I think the trans is slipping. When I go full throttle on high gears (low revs) the RPMs climb. Not sure if it's the torque converter working properly or the clutch is slipping. Here its a video:
I'm in 5th gear at 2k rpm and 100 k/h. When I step on the gas, the revs climb quickly to 3k and stay there (Slipping and engaging) while the speed starts to catch up. If I release the gas, the revs come back to normal.
Other symptoms: The transmission looked fine when I bought the car. I quickly did a tranny oil change at Honda + diffs + transfer case. I don't recall if it was like this one first bought the car a couple of months ago but I'm starting to feel a lot of clunky gear changes when the tranny is cold (first 5-6 gear changes). Once it gets warm, then it's butter smooth.
I'll do a stall test in the following days and I'll come back to tell how it went.
