Is my bearing going bad?

So I started noticing a sound from the front right wheel. I never heard it before because I always drove with the windows up, but it's a fairly loud, high pitch, grinding sound that is always going.

Even when I brake the sound is there so I don't think it's any contact issues.

I am nearing 80k miles, how much would a bearing replacement run me at the dealership?

Does the sound change with speed or RPMs? Can you hear it in neutral?

It's the indicator tab on the brake pad... you'll need new brakes pronto.

Not in neutral, just when the car moves.

That's what I thought it might be at first, but would that sound go away when braking or is it constantly on?

It will make a constant sound while moving until it wears even with the pad itself. At that point, much more wear will translate into new rotors. The mechanics can only turn so much surface off of the old rotors.

The tab is sticking out further than the pad and rubbing on the rotor. The Professor is good!
