MPG for 2009-2011's

I have a 2007 RL and thinking about a 2009 or 2010 RL. The EPA'S mpg for the 2007 is 18/26. I get about 20 in the city and 28 on the highway. The EPA'S mpg for a 2009 is 16/22. Curious first why the decrease in the gas milegage and second those with a 2009-2011 what is your city and highway mpg.

Thanks for the assistance!

1) Bigger engine maybe...? 3.7L vs 3.5L
2) Can't say...

With my 2010 I get 26 MPG in daily Houston traffic. Granted I drive at a time that evades most heavy traffic time; i.e. not much stop'n'go.

The EPA changed the mileage ratings and how they rate the cars.
the 2007 was reclassified to 16/24 so essentially the city mileage is the same but the highway mileage went down in the newer models mostly because of the bigger engines and hondas reluctance, inability? to develop a better transmission.

+1 on EPA changes. New York City driving, 12mpg city, all highway driving 22mpg with a/c blasting.

P.S. I am selling a 2009 if interested

And for what it's worth, the 2011 has a 6 speed with 3.7L, so it will have different mileage figures than the 2009-10 5 speed with 3.7L.

The '11 should get you 28 or 29 mpg on the freeway.
