Looking for purchase a 2006 RL, what's a good deal?

Hi everyone,

I've been reading this forum for a while and looking for a 2006 RL. Anyways, I came across one with 18,328 miles for $32,888. Can anyone chime in as to what a reasonable price would be? The car is one owner with clean history. A few more details below....

Mileage 18,329
Body Style Sedan
Exterior Color Silver
Interior Color Gray

Any help is appreciated!

FWIW the Sunday Washington Post had an 06 RL for sale at $27K. I think it must have been a typo, or the car was beaten to death, because mostly 06's are in the 30's with 05's being in the high to mid 20's

All of the 2006's had navigation.

There were 2 versions of the 06 RL: (1) Regular RL with Navigation; (2) Technology Package w/ACC, CMBS, PAX.

Private Party Value for a 2006 RL with Navigation according to Edmunds is $32,263.

I paid $39,900 for a 2006 ACC/CMBS/PAX RL with 3,000 miles on it in September 2007.

I think the price given by the original poster is in the ballpark. I'd try to get the car for closer to $31k.

Thanks for the response, everyone.

I'm actually thinking of starting with $29,000 and just work my way up and hopefully take it for $30,000.

And yeah, all 2006 have Nav.

Anyone here have taupe interior? How do you like it?

I have the taupe interior and love the color. If it doesn't have the wood shift knob and "wood" steering wheel, add them when you get the opportunity. They both add a lot. You can find them on eBay from time to time.

I have it. It's hard to keep clean, but it looks good with the celestial silver exterior.

I agree that the price is in the ballpark. The OP has a good plan.

Taupe Leather

I have the 2006 RL CMBS-Pax Celestial Silver with Taupe leather.

I have no problems with the interior staying clean. Occasionaly I wipe down the leather and vinyl surfaces with Eagle 1 Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. This also kept my previous Acura's leather, a 2003 CL-S with 183k miles almost as supple as when new.....even the servicing dealer could not believe how well the leather held-up.

The black interior looks richer on the RL, but I had 3 cars in a row with dark interiors. I drive 45k miles a year and wanted a brighter environment. With temps hovering around 100 here in DC lately, the lighter interior is most welcomed right now!

I purchased this car this past March with 4700 miles (in service with one owner for 14 mos - Certified Pre-Owned) for $36k. I had the dealer take the Pax tires off and swap with a brand new RL for stock wheels and Michelins and spare tire kit.

I love the RL. I have been averaging 28 mpg highway. When I take the car to southern Va and fill-up with gas down that way (as opposed to DC gas) I have gotten as high as 30mpg on more than 1 occasion.

I aslo had black interiors in my last two vehicles. The Taupe kind of brightens the mood, not to mention it goes well with the Lakeshore Silver.

I haven't had to clean the leather yet, but I will try the Eagle 1 Leather Cleaner/Conditioner mentioned by CadiGTi. I wash the car religiously, I should give the same attention to the interior.

I also have the taupe.

Black / ebony looks great when clean, but shows every speck of dust, dirt, scuff, etc.

I had parchment in my TL and that showed too much dye transfer from jeans, belts, etc on the drivers seat.

The taupe has been my happy medium. It does not show normal grime or fade as easily. I treat the leather quarterly and just use leather wipes when I wash weekly. No noticeble dye transfers or grain in the leather. My leather looks new at 2 years now. The floor mats are light and they show the most abuse. I found washing with carpet cleaner and then flushing them clean with the hose was best. Any residual carpet cleaner in the carpet fiber seems to be a dirt magnet and they soil even faster. Plus they can be easily replaced when cleaning can do no more.

Neuron Bob has to stop eating tacos with extra hot sauce while driving so his taupe interior stays cleaner!

I have had parchment leather in my G2 Legend, and would never recommend again. Taupe should be a little better in that it won't show the wear and the grime as much. I got ebony leather for that very reason. Very happy with it.

By the way, Washington Post this morning

2006 RL AWD with Nav fully power & loaded, Low Miles
$26,900
Darcars Lincoln Mercury 877 587 8546. This is the same ad I mentioned from last week.

Other 05's are selling for more in the same paper

I had parchment in my 03 TL and it was like brand new when I got rid of it in 2007. My daughter has an 00 TL with parchment and while it doesn't look brand new, there are no tears. That car is eight years old, and it would look really good if she cleaned it.

Mph, but I luv muh tacos...crunch...mph!

Nah, I have to stop wearing leather jackets during the winter, and dark pants other times of the year. My driver's seat is noticeably darker than any other seat despite several attempts to clean it up. But that's a topic for Wash and Wax.

that sounds about right, im in NYC and i got a 06' Rl base with navi for $30K back in april from a hyundai dealer on LI with 19k. which i thought was a steal being that 05's with more miles were going for mid to upper 30's and the original owner purchase the Rl in sept. of 2006 so my car is about 1yr9mnths old. not bad for a CGP w/ taupe interior. i love it. you will also.

MOST used cars on at a new car dealer are bought from auction.

Yeah. Auction. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but.... auction.

you can always check the Navi system to see where the car had previously been driven. I purchased my 2006 RL from a dealer this past March w/ 4700 miles. They told me it was an older local couple that traded it in on an MDX. I did get a car fax too.

The condition of the car, specifically the flawless leather, lead me to believe their story.

The nav still had their home address in it and most of the past locations (all local) in the Nav were pharmacies, womens clothing stores, and a beauty parlor.....of course they could have had the 18 year old lead foot grandson using the car too!

When I trade my '06 with 25,000 and excellent condition I will be lucky to get $27K. I am sure the dealer will sell it for at least $32K. I will sell you mine for $30K and it has two years left on the warranty.
